SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Things you are looking for  /  Asking for some ideas

Not a lot of people gave me feedback for Boy Still Missing, which is fine. I have a revamped beginning.

I do need some ideas, though. In the end of my script, it is revealed that, on Max's 16th birthday, Max's best friend Kevin killed Max's little brother Nicky. It was an accident, but, being a 15 year old, he freaks out and hides the body. This takes place in the woods behind Max's farm house.

My question is: How could a 15 year old boy hide a body for 10 years? It doesn't necessarily have to be 10 years, but I do like the idea of an adult coming back home, both literally and figuratively, and dealing with suppressed memories, feelings, emotions.

Nicky's disappearance is the biggest thing to happen to this town in a long time and the entire town gathers to search for this boy. How do they miss him?

Or should I just rethink the whole idea?

Help me please!

Next to New Years Eve or Armageddon, the wake of an OWC frenzy is about the worst possible time to be asking for help, AB.

But good luck!

I already gave you feedback, but I'll reiterate for the sake of argument.   It's gonna need more.   The first few pages are not compellling enough, IMO.    Definitely might wanna revamp it.

All the best.

AB,

You know I don't like you and have had some run ins with you. The question you ask is an integral part of your story, so, you really have no story yet. If you want to be a screen writer, answer that question yourself. If you're struggling with an issue in a particular scene, I can see you reaching for help here. But, you seem to need a cowriter on this project.

Also, you cannot copyright ideas. So until you put it all in a script and publlish it to the world, I would not be spilling these ideas online.

Might be worth searching through news articles and the like to find real-life cases where bodies have turned up after a long period.

There was a case in NZ not to long ago where a guy killed his girlfriend. He ended up cutting the body into smaller pieces and spreading it around the Waitakere forest. Bottom line... set the script in NZ ;D. I honestly don't know how many murderers in this country get caught with the amount of forests and natural reserves.

With the same case mentioned above, the guy ended up enlisting help from his friends as he simply couldn't do it alone. I think it would probably be similar with a 15 year old. He would probably end up running to someone for help... I know I would. Then again, maybe I'm just a wimp ;D

Haven't read the script, but at least one idea comes to mind right off the bat.  (Scattering body parts, which Danbotha mentioned, would work too.)  But what about stuffing it in a mostly buried drainage ditch?  That way, the body stays intact but is out of the way of searchers.

Throwing it out there...

Cheers,

As for hiding a body, there could be a big old hollow tree, a drain, a disused mineshaft, some old ruin, or how about a boulder on the edge of a hollow - put body in hollow and lever boulder over the top?

Just for sparks... good luck.
