Oh my God.  What is so wrong in the world that we are continually punished for sins we don't even know we're committing?  God, I apologize..for anything and everything, just please stop the madness and don't allow these hacks to be able to make movies anymore...please?

I've said it before, and here I go again - quite possibly one of the top 5 worst movies I've ever seen.  Pure horseshit at its smelliest and most vile.

It's funny, actually, because I was looking forward to seeing this at the theater, and when I found it on Netflix, I was very happy.  Within literally minutes, I was howling out loud, shaking my head and rolling my eyes like a cartoon character on crack.

Dialogue - just pathetic.  Almost every line is a howler.

Characters - just pathetic.  Almost every single one is a cliched cartoon cutout.

Sets - LOL!  C'mon...

FX - Some of the worst I've ever seen in a $20 Million budgeted, big screen movie.

You may want to implant the motorcycle chase in your memory for how CGI should not look.

Story -  LOL!  Damn, this must have been one of those "ideas" Luc Besson came up with when he was a preteen child.  Just epically horrible in every way possible and imaginable.

Acting - Everyone involved should be embarrassed unless everyone was high as kites while filming - if that's the case, they can look back and laugh, hopefully among friends.  Guy Pierce is not an action star, and hopefully will never try to be again.

Honestly, this is just terrible on every level.  The decisions being made throughout the movie are honestly laughable. As I said above, the level of intelligence on display throughout is sub marginal and I would think any adult with any knowledge of film should have stepped in and let someone know just how bad everything was.

Luc Besson is hit or miss and this is like swinging a bat in Miami while the pitch is coming from London.

Could be wonderful pisser viewing if completely inebriated with friends.

I'll give this a 0.1 out of 10 stars.  The .1 is only for the laughs I had throughout.

Just pathetic.

I may have 100 top 5 worst.

I'll tell you what though, watch this thing and see if you don't agree.  It's honestly like a giant pisser.  The story and character actions/reactions couldn't have been worse if they were trying to make it as bad as possible.

I'll look at it later. Maybe after the Patriots clinch!

Gotta agree with you 1000% on this one.  I had the unfortunate opportunity to see this one (glad it was free!).  Not many good things to speak of about this film.  I too have been extremely disappointed with the crap - I mean movies coming out lately.  I have a couple of free VOD movies available to me on Verizon FIOS, and so far my wife and I can't find a single movie to use them on.

Hahah yeah, this one's pretty unbelievable. That bike chase...f*** sakes.

It's a shame, because I'm all for garbage action movies, and saving the President's daughter from a dumbass space prison that's falling to earth is right up my alley. But I'd avoid this one unless you're in a very specific so-bad-it's-bad-but-not-so-bad-it's-funny kinda mood.

Probably was intended to appeal to an international market rather than the US market.

I checked it out briefly while taking a break from something else. I got as far as the motorcycle chase scene which looked bad even on my laptop. I can't imagine how bad it would've looked on a big screen. The fact that the CGI company is in the beginning credits says a lot. Very annoyed at that kind of crap. It ruins movies, for me at least.

Me too!  But I'm not going to change the mood here, this wasn't the best and Guy Pearce doesn't really pull off the witty "John McClane" action star although he gave it a good shot to his credit.

While the typecast Maggie Grace who obviously gets "taken" is just annoying and I was hoping one of the convicts would just kill her and put me out of my misery.

It all felt too similar to Escape from New York but wasn't nearly as much fun as that 80's classic.

Saw this for free and felt ripped off.
Why are you riffing on Escape from New York again, guys?
Wasn't Doomsday enough of a debacle? ;D

This is lazy, even for Luc Besson, and that's saying something!

Gotta admit, Brett, as much as I wanted to hate Doomsday, I didn't. I can't say I enjoyed it, though, because it's never crossed my mind to watch it again.

P.S.: It's 11:14.

Can't believe this came from Besson of Taken. The scene where the gun is dropped and it fires followed by the motorcycle scene - cheesefest at its best. Only checked this out after reading posts here and IMDB to see what the fun was about - it didn't disappoint but it was fun/entertaining for the wrong reasons.

Zack...you "loved" this?  Were you eating shrooms while watching?  Smoking herb?  Or just drinking like a fish?

Did you think anything, and I mean literally anything made a lick of sense or felt remotely believable or possible?

Did you enjoy seeing Guy and Maggie run across one set after another into a fake room with another sealed door?

OMG...unreal...but, that's what makes the world go round and why these hacks make money.

Posted by: Zack, December 11th, 2012, 10:55am; Reply: 13
No. Nothing was believable. But if that's what you wanted... why did you watch a movie about the presidents daughter being held hostage at a prison that happens to be orbiting Earth? And I was completly sober. I just loved the energy that went into this super cheesy actionfest. My taste in movies is different than yours Jeff, doesn't mean I'm on drugs because I disagree with you.

Zack, the drugs comments were in jest.

Were you impressed with the motorcycle chase FX work?   ;D ;D

Dude, just messin' with ya...

Absolutely not, the effects were god awful. Like I said, I'm just a Guy Peirce fanboy. It was fun seeing him play a character that he typically doesn't play. And it seemed like he was having a blast with it. He really had some awesome one liners in this thing. "Here's an apple and a shotgun. Don't talk to strangers... Shoot them." Hahaha golden. :P

Hard to defend this one, to be fair. But I'd definitely prefer churning out this rubbish whilst getting paid, rather than criticising it on here for free!

Terrible film but it entertained me on a Sunday morning hangover whilst munching Doritos with the girlfriend. Pretty sure it was built for that purpose entirely.

I didn't mind Pearce in the film, but he and the other actors were not directed well and the final script (one of the scribes was Besson, who also produced, most likely the last fingers on ihe page. Robert Kamen is nowhere to be found)

It is one of the worst films of 2012.
The film steals from Carpenter's films as mentioned, but also a little from the Fortress films that starred Christopher Lambert. But that's the least of Lockout's problems.

For sure...easily.  I'd go so far as to say easily one of the worst theatrically released movies of the 2000's.

Absolutely putrid!

Haha give 'em a little credit!

White Chicks, Gooby, The Covenant, The Hottie and the Nottie, Catwoman, Glitter, Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead and anything else Boll got in theatres, Battlefield Earth, all of Friedberg and Selzer's (sp?) stuff, Norbit and Big Momma's House 2 and whatever other samboism that's been thrown at us the last decade, That's My Boy, The Spirit, All About Steve...

And I haven't even mentioned the Wayans (EDIT: Oh wait...yes I did...right off the bat), Larry the Cable Guy, Kevin James, Mike Myers, Jamie Kennedy...or the source of my avatar, the good Ms. Duff!

Yeah, Chris, those are all mostly terrible theatrically released films.

And, get this, I paid to see Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead in the theater, and you just reminded me how much I hated and still hate House of the Dead...very annoying to say the least.

But, when I say 1 of the worst, in its genre, it's pure crap.  Battlefield Earth is epically horrible, and you're right, was released in 2000.

Maybe I have a 100 or so worst of the 2000's.   ;D ;D ;D ;D

It's a good idea for a thread...list your worst of the 2000's, and see what other rancid turds float to the surface...

Yeah, this was pretty pathetic in its own special way. Some of the one-liners totally read like they were written by a foreigner who hasn't been in touch with Western culture since the early 90s. I also thought only in a Luc Besson action movie would a deranged prisoner get to have his way with the president's 20-something daughter and not try to do anything remotely sexual. Guy Pearce did a decent job, I suppose, but his character was "action hero" by numbers at best.

There were times I found it fun to watch the flick try so desperately to be cool only to fall flat on its face but with something so derivative and generic, that morbid interest wears off quick. So yeah... not good.

You're right, pal.
Doomsday is a masterpiece compared to LockOut.
But I still found it to be offensively derivative and bereft of a fresh spin.
Homages work better when embedded into a story, not just pranced about the screen.

Doomsday was a big disappointment, coming from my boy Neil Marshall and starring the sexy Rhona Metra.

Was it downright horrible?  I don't remember either, but I was definitely not happy with the final product.
