Hello, long time no see (mainly because I am antisocial  ??)  

Anyone out there have any advice on who to contact regarding a script I've written, based on true events in England in the 80s?  Normally I'm near repulsed by footie hooligan films because most (not all) have been pretty abysmal.  Mine is based on true events and is told from the police force's angle.

I know it's not perfect - well actually I DON'T but I'm not deluded either  ;D - but for now I'm just looking for initial contacts to try getting in touch with.

It sounds like you may have isolated the idea to suit an audience in England. If that's the case, try and get hold of Film Producers in England or even see if you can contact Agents who might take on the script.

It might be worth your while to get a couple other people to have a read of it as well, just so you can get some solid feedback.

Now that's an interesting approach to a hooligan film. Most try too hard to be underworld-cool and end up distasteful cliched rubbish. If you've got anywhere near a half-decent script you should be onto a winner I reckon.

Green Street - on imdb it has a really good rating too.  UNBELIEVABLE :lol:

Thanks for the interest guys, I've email pitched it to Angel Eye as suggested by Marriot, I like the look of their site/'portfolio' plus their submissions method does appear trustworthy.  They say they try and reply within 4 weeks so I will let you know.

Yes Dan, it's distinctly an English story (and English 'disease' in fact according to the rest of the continent where of course football hooliganism never has occurred and never will do :D ).  It's set in the 1980s in Birmingham, West Midlands.  

I'm virtually virginal with screenplays, I'm more a books writer and whilst I have faith in my screenwriting ability, I am always interested in constructive criticism.  Regarding script agents, can anyone on here recommend anyone?  Bluntly speaking, and I DON'T mean this forum, I've been stung a few times in the writing business by people claiming to be 'benevolent' and not in it for the money or to try and shaft other writers, so my Bullshit Detector Wristband is usually on red alert :D

(and lol at the 'english' disease. yeah right... look at italy, holland (jeez holland is bad), turkey, never mind the eastern europeans. it was bad enough back in the day (before my time), but we were amateurs at hooliganism. they take it seriously)

I bet you wouldn't guess where the hooliganism is the worst now, Maz, in Europe.

It's not popular, but Football Factory always makes me smile - great little film if you chuck expectations out of the window. Or maybe I just like it 'cos I'm a muggy little cu*t.

Would love to see a football hooligan film that doesn't rely on the old stereotypes. There was an attempt (and good lead performance) in Cass, but the film itself never quite meshed.

I've enjoyed most of the hooligan films but I don't take them too seriously and I do often put on hold my pedantry and scepticism :D

I liked the FF, and Awaydays, but I've tried to write something which is real (of course) and realistic.
