Saw this online today--some interesting choices here and for those of us looking to produce the great indie film in our writing, these films might provide you with some inspiration:

Not a bad list at all, although I cringed when I saw 'Buffalo 66' so early on. Didn't think that was much better than 'Brown Bunny'.

But there were some great ones on there that deserved it. Thought I knew what #1 was going to be. Got the director right, but wrong movie. Then I remembered this was a Sundance list and not a Cannes list. His other movie kicked some ass at Cannes.

Decent list.

I didn't even know Usual Suspects was screened at Sundance, as that film doesn't really feel 'indie' in the slightest. I always presumed that it was a big budget, studio production.

-- great examples of great films that pretty much anyone could make with very, very little money.

Although audiences are probably too overstimulated-stupid to put up with something like Slacker or Clerks, any more. And most wouldn't put up with Buffalo '66 in the first place...

Loved Buffalo 66, thought it would be higher actually.

Great to see Stranger Than Paradise in there, only saw it for the first time last year in a JJ marathon from Permanent Vacation to Ghost Dog.

Quite the solid list, I have to say. Very well-rounded and complete. It's nice to see some of the unsung heroes (Welcome to the Dollhouse, Brick, Secretary) mixed in with the more obvious. Also one of the few lists of any kind where I wholeheartedly agree with the number one pick.

It's also cool to be reminded what a legacy Sundance has and is continuing to have when Cannes and the like get so much more attention. Let's hope they keep it coming.

That's a great list, with some great movies made on a shoestring budget... e.g. clerks

It's great to see "Like Crazy" in here.  That was a great movie, and there was no script so everything was improvised.  JenLawrence shined in that movie.  I didn't even know it screened at Sundance.

Saw is also a great movie.  I don't care for the sequels after "Saw 3".

Precious is also amazing, one of my favourite indie films.  I am so it's in here. :)

AND AGH WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE.  Props to my mom for introducing me to that film.  It is her all time favourite movie and I love it also. :)

Martha Marcy May Marlene is also an amazing movie.  Awesome cinematography, and Elizabeth Olsen stole the show with her performance.
