I've had this in my que for a long time and decided the only way to get movies out of my que is to watch the damn things.

I must say I was thoroughly impressed with this unknown little gem.  Directed by David Schwimmer of Friends fame, and starring Clive Owen and Catherine Keener, this thing delivers for the most part.

I see the budget listed at both $4 Million and $9.5 Million, so not sure about that, but I do know it made a whopping $120,000 in its theatrical run.  As usual, I don't get it.  We've got some star power and a number of millions of dollars spent, but basically no attempt at a real theatrical release.

The plot revolves around Owen and Keener's 14 year old daughter, Annie, absolutely wonderfully realized by Liana Liberato.  Annie meets an online predator and things go very poorly for all involved.

What makes this work for me is the strong performances by everyone involved.  Owen and Keener are both great, but the standout here is young Liberato.  I totally bought everything she did, everything she said.  She's an actress to be on the watch for.

As a drama/thriller, you may ind it a tad slow, too many characters that don't really matter, and an ending that's well...let's just leave it at that.

But as a character study and a real threat to the world's young, this is strong and well done.

Recommended.

I love the netflix reviews. It helps me weed through the list of movies I haven't watched yet. Did anyone else notice that netflix started charging almost $20 a month instead of the 7.99 we were paying?? They say it's for dvd service and online streaming. WTF.

If you get both the DVD and the streaming service, then it will be almost $20/month.  As Jeff mentioned, you pay almost $9 for one service and another $9 for the other service.  You can cancel one and keep the other, but the streaming service for me is no good for the movies, only the TV shows, so I keep both.

As for Trust--thanks for the heads up on this--I've been wondering whether it was worth a watch and I'll probably give it a go now.

I saw this some time ago and remember enjoying it. I even recommended it to a friend who's 14 year old daughter was recently caught messaging a 35 year old man on Facebook. It's a different world out there for kids these days. This was a nice eye opener of how an online predator can prey upon impressionable minds. Definitely worth a look IMO.
