The good news - This is 10,000% better than Wrong Turn 4.

The bad news - This is not a good movie by any means.

OK, so Declan O'Brien strikes again as Writer and Director of this franchise that he's driven right into the ground.  After watching several of his efforts, I have to believe one of two things - the guy's a complete idiot who can't write anything remotely believable, or he's purposely making terrible movies, aimed at stupid gore mongers.

The plot here is ludicrous as our favorite inbred cannibals now take on an entire town without a care in the world.  In fact, they continue to take glee in torturing any and everyone in the most over the top ways possible, again, not worrying about any repercussions, or the time it takes to set up these kills, whatsoever.

Doug Bradley actually does his best and he has quite a screen presence, actually.  But, the pathetic excuse for dialogue he has to spew does make his character rather humorous for all the wrong reasons.

You can tell in every single scene how cheap this movie is.  So obvious all the "buildings" in the town are simply set pieces built for the film.  Very often, it's downright  funny how fake things look.

Characters and acting are all very poor and over the top.  Not a single character who does anything that a real human would do. Again, quite funny at times.

Gore is fairly extreme again, but done much better than the last few outings, at least IMO.  It would actually be more effective if it was toned down a notch or 3.

The "plot" here is ludicrous again, or maybe the better way to put it is that the plot is almost non existent.  There's the big annual "Mountain Man Festival" going on, but that's quickly forgotten and the town looks like a ghost town, with literally no one anywhere.  Characters are completely forgotten as well, so that our main little cast has to deal with their situation on their own.

In a strange way, this was semi-entertaining, but at the same time, it's very piss poor.

I gotta commend you, dude. You have got to be the most optimistic movie watcher I know. I'm not sure if I could sit through half the crap you've seen with laces in my shoes.

This made me laugh. Kind of a perfect review for Wrong Turn 4 in its own right.
