SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  March, 2013 1+6WC  /  The 1+6WC Features are up!
Posted by: Don, April 27th, 2013, 12:38pm
The Features are up.  There were seven scripts submitted.  Note:

1. Some folks didn't submit the first 11 pages.  That is OK.  I apologize if I didn't make it clear that even if you didn't submit the first 11 pages, you could still participate.

2. When folks submitted the first 11 pages, I added the link to that.  Note, some folks changed the title of their work and some went in a completely different direction from the original first 11.  That, too, is ok.

The Wish Cow by Mark Moore (irish eyes) - Comedy - A father tries to make amends for his daughter's disastrous birthday, by buying her a smartphone from an old Chinese antique store... only he takes home the wrong phone. 90 pages - pdf, format 8)

Bad Connection by Stephen Wells (SteveUK) - Thriller - A down on her luck waitress has her life thrown into danger when she unwittingly buys a stolen cell phone, and its murderous original owner comes looking for his property. 84 pages - pdf, format 8)

A Written Descent by James Fisher (jamesthejudged) - Thriller - A struggling writer gets inspiration from pictures of grisly murders he finds on a recently purchased cell phone, and is haunted by an unknown killer that leads to his family life and his sanity spiraling out of control. 101 pages - pdf, format 8)

Naughty Claus by Renee Joynson (bflywings) - Comedy - When a stuck up business woman buys a stolen phone she is thrust into the life of an angel where controlling her new life will be harder than it seems in her pursuit to earn a set of angel wings. 93 pages - pdf, format 8)

Dead Ringer by P. Cook (angry bear) - Thriller/Horror - An up-and-coming actor becomes romantically involved with a mysterious woman, but when he discovers that he looks exactly like her deceased boyfriend and that she's emotionally unstable, he struggles to break away from her. - pdf, format 8)

Reset to Default by Eric Wall - Drama - After fourteen years in prison, Daniel Toth is being given a second chance. A chance to reconnect with his family, and rebuild his life. But when a gift for his son results in unintended consquences, the demons of his past begin to catch up. - pdf, format 8)

Well done folks.

I will see what I can read.

You know what? Since I find it incredibly challenging to write when the sun's out, I'm gonna get a jump on these. Can't wait. =)

EDIT: No offense to anyone, but I'm going to go in order of logline appeal as opposed to my usual order of upload. Congratulations to everyone who completed one. =)

Nice! I'll try to read them all. The 11 pagers were promising.

Congrats to all. I've read one of them so I'll give the others a try.

Congrats to all who managed to get something finished for the deadline! I've got a bit of a hectic weekend, but I'm looking forward to getting started on these Monday.

Thank you Don.

Though the title is wrong again - Naughty Claus.
Sorry to be a pain in the butt, but 'The' puts a different vibe on it.

Thanks Don!

Mine is a thriller/horror though and probably not for sensitive people...  :)

Big pat on the back to those that wrote THE END on time.
And I'm sure they'll be more of these trickling in next month. ;)

Congrats to everyone who completed a script for this challenge.  I know from experience it's no easy feat to write and conceive a feature on a subject and theme that came from someone else in only 7 weeks.

I'm probably not going to be reading these, as I wasn't involved in the challenge, but I'm sure hoping that Phil is going to read each and every one, since it was his challenge.  That's the least he can do to help you all out.

Good job everyone!

Congrats to everyone for finishing this challenge. While mine isn't finished...I plan on reading these! Hopefully I'll have some time this week...helping with new baby...changing poo poo pants ...and sleeping in between. :)

GREAT JOB to all!!!!

Jeff - I dare you to open mine and spit on the first page, lol. :) Kidding. No, please don't. :)

Just thought I'd let everyone know that I'm reading these in no particular order. I've just been picking them at random. So no offense to the writer of the last one that I may read, there is no reason at all for reading yours last. :)

OK, Renee, dare accepted!  I'm not going to spit on it though - is that an Aussie term?

I'll look over page 1 and leave some feedback.

lol, my Aussie slang seems to be confusing some of late. To spit on it would be to slam it, more or less.

I seem to recall you not being able to get past the first page on my last OWC entry.

Of course I will not slam it.  Me...slam a script?  C'mon now...

I actually read the first 10 pages yesterday. I'll throw out my thoughts as soon as I get some free time.

Spit on it.....slamming it.....

This place is gettin' a little raunchy, eh?  :P

How's everybody doing?

Jeff, wow, you managed 10 pages, I'm impressed. Whenever you get round to it, I'm a 'stress less' kind of gal.

Reaper, lol, I just spat my hot coffee all over myself, thanks (and that is not code for anything either). :)

Mo has asked me to read something else of his, so the only one left for me is Reset to Default. Eric, are you around? I'll read the first few pages and give you my thoughts. You didn't read mine so I don't really feel obligated to to read the whole thing. Don't feel like you have to read mine now since it's already in production.

Good work everyone! I think everyone did a great job and all the stories have great potential and a solid spine which is not always the case with these 7WCs. Congratulations everyone!!  8)

Hey Pia,

Big congrats on getting it into production. Very exciting! :)

That being said I still feel like I owe you a read. Is there anything other then Dead Ringer that you're looking for a read on? Let me know.

Otherwise I'll just keep my eye out for your next script post and remember that I owe you one.

Congrats again,
Eric

Eric,

thanks for chiming in. I don't have anything that needs reading right now. I'll give yours a peek later. A rewrite and a read request from someone else came in between, but I will get to it.  :)
