Sign-up by posting your characters' names for this game in this thread. Include a description and brief history of your characters.

The game will start in approximately one week.

Sign-up now and, most of all, have fun. =)

_________________________________________________________________________________

THE RULES

The object of this game is to end up as the sole survivor.

THE PREMISE

Plot: The participants and crew of the popular reality television series "Deserted", en route to an uninhabited island, Aekonis, crash land in the Pacific Ocean. The survivors make it to shore, but have no way to call out for help and things get worse when they discover that the plane was sabotaged. Tension mounts and suspicions arise when the survivors discover one of the passengers wanted the plane brought down.

YOUR TURN

Every player will be responsible for creating two characters as the game will be played for two full rounds.

When it is your turn I will send an email stating that it is your turn.   I will also post that it is your turn in this discussion thread.  Refer to the discussion thread to get information you will need for your turn.

When it is your turn, you will receive an E-mail from me stating characters you are allowed to kill, if any. Everyone will have killed two characters by the time the game ends.

I will also provide the name of characters you may not kill.  One of these characters is the killer, so you can and should implicate one of these characters in the murder.  You may also be provided with additional instructions which you will need to follow.

You will write a scene and post it in the game thread.

You have 24 hours to acknowledge my email. If you do not acknowledge then your turn will be postphoned or cancelled.

You have 48 hrs to write your scene + or - a few hours.  It is recommended that you choose one of the other players to read your scene post before you post it.

Please tell me as soon as you can if you will not make your turn so we can keep the game moving. Don't be afraid to communicate your scheduling needs.

A player still continues to write even after their characters are dead.  They just write about other characters.

FIRST TURN

FIRST ROUND

There will be a resurrecution of one player's character at the end of the first round.

WHO IS THE KILLER

I will pick the current killer randomly from the introduced characters.  I will post a poll every few turns with all the characters that are still alive and you will vote on who you think the killer is.

GENERAL SCENE GUIDELINES

Keep it real.

A scene can be no longer than one post in a thread.  If you use Word then this is somewhere around 7,850 characters including spaces and lines.

All formatting will be left aligned (see game thread for example).  All locations slugs should be in bold. [ b ]slug[ / b ] <- like that without the spaces.

You may have more than one location in your scene.

If you introduce another character please consider the bio given by the player.

As well as killing off a character, develop "story" during your turn.   This means having characters interact with each other.  However, your character doesn't need to interact with every other character.  Limit the character's relationships to just a few other characters each.  This will make storylines more pronounced.

Make the reading interesting and move the "story" forward.

I'm putting story in quotes here because there really isn't much of a story here, because more than likely there will be many fragments of stories, after all this is a game.

Good luck and feel free to ask if you have any questions.

EDIT: Among the characters that can be created are contestants on the show, airplane personnel (pilots, stewardesses, etc) or TV show crew (cameramen, producers, crafts, etc).

Characters:

Simon Carnegie (27): Contestant.

A chronic gambler who will bet on nearly anything. Simon was dying to get selected to appear on the show as he needed the $1,000,000 prize to pay off the sharks he let get their hooks into him. A desperate man in a desperate situation, nobody's going to stop Simon from getting his prize, even if he has to kill for it. Smooth as a sheet of sandpaper but slick as oil, Simon is that snake hiding under the beautiful flower.

The one rule of the game that Simon never bothered to learn is that you never spend more than you can afford to lose. For him, everything is for sale and everything is for the taking, no matter what it takes to get it.

Lilith Brand (43): Contestant.

After escaping from a bad marriage relatively unscathed, Lilith realized that she wasted her prime years and never really did anything with her life. She never traveled or found time to enjoy herself. When the opportunity arose, Lilith thought she'd kill two birds with one stone by entering "Deserted" to stay on a tropical island and have a shot to win a cool million. She plans to return to her two children with that prize and the story of a lifetime.

As a smart, career woman in the advertising field, she knows how to get a rise out of people and, when necessary, get them to bend to her will. She is the pure epitome of gamesmanship, hidden behind the face of a kid, loving mother.

Vinny Sato (46) -Contestant-

Vinny Sato lives a modest, small town lifestyle in the town of Adair, Oklahoma. He's the owner of the popular street-corner barbershop "Vinny's Cuts". He's also a single father, raising his teenage daughter, Yuki.

Vinny's quick wit and sharp mind are always an instant hit with the locals, but its the mystique created around his refusal to talk about his past that has the entire town coming back to his shop for more. No matter how much they pry, joke, laugh, and inquire about his life before 12 years ago - Vinny never talks.

And for a very good reason.

Vinny Sato is actually Hiroto Takashi, a billionaire business tycoon; founder and owner of the 4th largest corporation in Japan. The Fall of "Takashi Enterprises" began when authorities launched an investigation into the corporation's suspected ties to the Yakuza mob. As a result; Hiroto lost his investors and the stocks for his empire crashed literally over night. In the blink of an eye, Hiroto went from billionaire to bankruptcy.

In a desperate attempt to save his fortune, Takashi convinced the Mob to invest heavily in his business... promising that he not only would save his business (their cover) but also make them millions.

Shortly thereafter the authorities shutdown Takashi Enterprises, froze all assets, and issued a warrant for Hiroto's arrest.

Wanted now by not only the authorities, but the mob as well... Takashi fled the country, taking with him his infant daughter.

Unfortunately, Vinny's perfect little life in Adair would not last forever. Someone has discovered Vinny's true identity and is blackmailing him to the tune of one-million dollars. To make matters worse, they have kidnapped his 13 year old daughter, threatening to kill her if he does not pay within thirty days.

In a last ditch effort to come up with the money, Vinny has enlisted in a reality TV competition with the hopes of winning the grand prize that will not only preserve his altered identity, but also save his daughter's life.

MONICA DEMATO (35) -EXECUTIVE PRODUCER-

Monica is the creator and executive producer of the show "Deserted."

A former reality star herself, winning the now disgraced singing competition "Superstar!" at the age of 17. She went on to make the highest selling record of the decade, spawning four #1 hit singles, and going platinum 7 times in the first two years.

It would be the only album she would make.

Unable to handle and cope with overnight success and fame, Monica's world tour was nothing short of a disaster. Plagued with numerous show cancellations due to nervous breakdowns, drug overdoses, egotistical excesses... all culminating in a suicide attempt that would leave her in a coma for two months.

Monica would recover, eventually writing a tell-all book claiming she and other female contestants of the show "Superstar!" were forced to have sexual relations with "Superstar's" executive producer, Aaron Dupree.

The other female contestants have since denied these allegations, as does Aaron Dupree who was eventually tried and acquitted of numerous embarrassing charges, including statutory rape.

The damage however, was done.

Years later Monica would jump back into the entertainment industry, this time as a writer and producer. She would catapult herself up through the Hollywood ranks using her still rabid sex appeal, uncompromising perfectionism, and relentless ambition to create several highly rated reality TV shows.

But fame is fleeting in Hollywood... and Monica's last three shows have bombed with critics and audiences alike. Many have begun to question if Monica has lost her touch and feel that "Deserted" may be her last chance.

On the eve of filming, the pressure and desperation to make "Deserted" a hit show have taken their toll on Monica. Already notoriously difficult to work with, Monica is out of control and the nervous breakdowns have once again reared their ugly head.

As a woman known for getting what she wants, and willing to do anything to get it... what steps will a desperate Monica DeMato take to make "Deserted" a hit show?

Especially now that she's back on drugs and completely suicidal.

Phil Bietermann (28) - Cameraman

Phil lives his life looking through a lens. Cameraman extraordinaire, he's been a part of countless reality TV shows. He always gets the best shots, captures the most exciting moments, and finds the most interesting stories to film.

He was headhunted for "Deserted" by Monica despite (or because of) numerous accusations of refusing to aide contestants in danger in order to keep filming. He's also been accused of eating in front of starving contestants, tossing vermin and critters into their camps, and spreading rumors during games, all to drive up tensions. A few blog posts mentioned how he provoked two men so much they assaulted him and were ejected from the game, but those posts were hastily removed for violating the terms of iron-clad NDAs and never substantiated.

Phil grew up in Detroit in a rough neighborhood and was involved with gangs from an early age. When his parents split up his father took him to L.A. where he entered film school. He started filming everything and gained notice when he exposed criminal activity at his school over the internet. He was hired as a news cameraman and was happy doing that until his first reality TV show gig. He's often said he covered the news but it's only on reality TV that we see what people are really like.

Alison Lake (30) - Contestant

Alison is a survivalist and the star of her own YouTube show called "Left For Dead", in which she's dropped off in remote locations with few supplies and has to find her own way back to civilization. She mostly films herself but also has a camera crew to track her from a distance. She's had to rescue a crew member on four occasions, and the one time she needed rescuing she refused to go with the S&R team, determined to "get herself out or die trying." It was her highest viewed episode and earned her a Streamy Award.

Her selection for "Deserted" was hotly contended as many saw her as a ringer competing with amateurs, but her strong personality and colorful language were too good for the network execs to pass up, and the execs insist other contestants are every bit as skilled as she is. She doesn't care about the prize money, only about being the best.

Alison grew up in Maine, orphaned at an early age when her parents were killed in a plane crash. She spent much of her youth bouncing around the foster care program until she ran away at fourteen. She lived off the grid for six years -- a period she refuses to talk about -- before popping up in Cambodia as a field guide.

I'm sure Mr. Sato will be a welcomed addition to the island. There are big stakes for him and I'm sure he'd do just about anything to save his daughter... even murder. =)

That's perfect, Rene. We've got ourselves a ringer in the mix. Now, we just need two from Jeff, two from Tailbest and maybe, if we can get some more people, we'll be on our way. =)

Sorry guys, I just saw this now.  Looks like I'm behind the old 8 ball.  I'll try and get 2 peeps up today, but it may be a busy weekend of partying.

What about Dena?  Sean, send her an E-mail, as I bet she missed this like I did.

I'm doing by best, Penoyer, but so far, nada. It's okay, though. A lot of people are working on new scripts which is probably better anyway.

I don't think you are. I mean, really, those descriptions probably don't need to be in until about an hour before the game starts, or less. Basically, it's just there to determine the order.

Just a quick update for everyone who's in the game or maybe considering getting in the game. The game was originally supposed to start tomorrow, but I have decided to push the start date back to Friday the 10th in order to give people a little more time.

I'm going to be out of town starting the 16th through the 19th.  Starting on the 10th will be an issue for me.

How about we start Monday, the 6th?

So, push it back only one day?

I could be ready for Monday, but I won't be ready for tomorrow.

And if you're the only female in the game, you're character is bound to be treated really really badly.  ;D

All right, guys. I'm going to lock down this Killer game for now, due to lack of interest and lack of time for those who are interested. So far, we've only had three people create characters.

Maybe a little ways down the line, it'll be reopened and we'll see if we have any more interest then.
