SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Screenwriting Class  /  Transferring Celtx to Final Draft

I currently use Celtx and plan on buying Final Draft in a couple weeks. Is it difficult to transfer my scripts from Celtx to Final Draft? Seems like the formatting would get thrown off. Anybody done it before?

It's not very difficult. In Celtx you have the option (under the "Script" tab) to Export. Save it as a text (.txt) file.

Then you import it into Final Draft. In FD, click "open." Select the text file of your Celtx script, tell it to import as Script, and it should work fine.

Can you transfer Celtx to Trelby?

I don't have Trelby, so I don't know. You could try the same thing you do for Final Draft. Click "open" then choose the .txt version of the Celtx file. There might be an "import" option somewhere, too.

Yes, you can import Celtx to Trelby. In fact, you can import the following formats:

ASCII Text files
Final Draft XML (.fdx)
Celtx (.celtx)
Adobe Story (.astx)
Fountain (.fountain)
Fade In Pro (.fadein)

Check out the online manual: http://www.trelby.org/files/manual.html
