There's prolly an old thread about this great show but it would be buried, lol.

I've been re-watching the seasons from the start and am halfway through Season 5 (that Forest Whitaker's char is one creepy piece of shit, lol). Years ago when the Shiled was first of TV, we used to watch it religiously. But gradually, we would forget to tape episodes - it was on late at night - and soon the kids growing up took over, etc.

So we would buy each season on DvD and watch it that way. Bought the fifth season but never finished watching it. Of course the show continued to run for 2 seasons but we didn't try and tape it.

Anyway, a few weeks back with school hols approaching and the family going away, I started re-watching the whole series. Damn, it was like meeting up with old friends! There would be eps that I could recall but others where I would be watching and suddenly realise, 'oh man, this is that ep'.

I watch fuck all TV and zero movies so for me now to be getting into bed at 7 and watching an ep of The Shield on my daughters portable DVD player is somewhat unusual for me! I always go to bed at that time, when the kids go to bed, but usually read, do some writing or get on the IPad.

Would love to hear some memories from perps about this show. Wonderful acting, great scripts.

The Shield is on my top 5 for TV.  It's one if those shows that is a repeat occasion and watching it with newcomers is fun, especially when the shit hits the fan.  To put it simple, it's a show about taking one step forward and two steps back, until the hole is so big that it is impossible for anyone to crawl out, but --

SPOILER ALERT

One man does.

My top 3 Shield moments:

3. Vic walks in a Julian having gay sex.  Although there are many times Vic has done this, the scene was timed perfectly, giving Vic a psychological advantage over a man that is afraid to come out.  And like everyone else, Julian becomes property of Vic.

2. Dutch strangles the feral cat.  Words can't describe this scene, as it is a collage of everything Dutch has based an entire life's work wrapped into one.  The writers chose to not further explore this idea, but never really needed to.

1. Vic's confession.  The ultimate scene that had Vic, for the first time, tell the truth.  We as an audience already knew the details, but as Vic spills his guts, it's riviting and breathtaking.

In the end, Vic got what he deserved: death my desk job.  I am watching this again.

Nice highlights Johnny!

I forgot to mention I haven't obviously seen Seasons 6 and 7 yet, but have a fair idea of what happens from the Net. So it is sort of sad knowing that Lem dies by Shane's hand, and later Shane poisons his wife and kids before topping himself.

Lots of fave moments in this show for me:

1. When Dutch nails the smart arse serial killer while the gang are watching in the other room. Great stuff.
2. After the money train hit, when Vic, Shane, Lem and Ronnie stand around the table looking at the huge pile of cash.
3. The start of the next episode straight after that one. Shows the dead Armenians in the empty pool with their feet cut off.

I love the camaraderie between the Strike Team in the first 2 seasons, before the money train. After that, it gets all serious as they plunge further into the mire.

Wonderful, wonderful show...

What's this a ref too, J? When the other task force team streaks thru the Barn?

I'm sorry to have spoiled!  I'll tell you that even if you know what's coming, you have to see that shit!  Shane's actions in the end were disturbing.  Dutch nailing the serial killer as everyone was watching was priceless.  So many good moments.

Ba-da-da-da-ahhhhhh! (From the opening credits) hahaha!

No, no, it's sweet, Johnny. I learned it all off the Net months ago, just out of curiosity, long before I had the urge to rewatch it and then watch the two seasons I haven't seen.

Yeah, the song is cool. When you listen with headphones on, it sounds even better! Actually, the back ground sounds during each ep are unreal with 'phones on - police choppers, radio transmissions coming from all angles, it's full on.

Other highlights are Shane balling the chick in the interro room, and Acevada being made to blow that guy, lol

Oh yeah! I totally forgot about Acavada blowing that guy at gunpoint, lol!  Its so funny when the audience thinks to themselves, gosh this guy needs to go suck a dick, and then the writers actually make him do it! LMFAO! Then the asshole goes out and gets a hooker on the regular, and escalates the sex into complete domination.  Then he tells his wife he got raped, a woman who has backed his career through thick and thin, only to be disgusted and appalled.  Classic.

How's the attitude of his missus though? When he tells her. It's like she was made to slurp schlong, not him. Her reaction makes you wanna kick her arse! She is hot though...lol

Lol! One of my favorite lines to top one of the craziest scenes.  I wish I could write this stuff.

Just finished watching the last 3 eps of season 5 in one big session. I think I hadn't seen them.

Lem's death was sad, even though I knew it was gonna happen. Damn,, those 4 guys were tight. Not as tight as John, Paul, George and Ringo but still bloody close, lol.

So now I can get Season's 6 and 7 from the local library and continue on.

And yeah, that above line when Vic tells Kavanaugh about rooting his ex is gold.

Johnny, am thinking to writing a stand alone episode of The Shield, just as an exercise and a bit of fun.

I'll prolly set it in the first season era before all the shit goes down, when the Strike Force were still able to 'enjoy' things. I watched the first ep of Season 6. Man, this show is the ducks nuts!

Let me know if you have any thoughts on a cool script I could write

That's like trying to pull the sword from the stone dude! Lol! Fuck it, let's see here...

Fan fic, always wanted to, but never had the guts.  Even though we got a few glimpses of the strike team prior to murdering their teammate, I always imagined an episode in which Vic wasn't in control of his environment.  In the spirit of fun, maybe Vic was a victim of a horrible act.  Maybe he was a legitimate cop that got worked over.  I think it would be a breath of fresh air to see an entire episode focused a role reversal and the seeds of things to come.

What do you think?

Yeah, we could use a few different things.

Getting back to the show, Johnny. A few things to ponder:

Why did the Strike Force not try and bug Kavanaughs office at the Barn? Would there be daily sweeps in a cop station? Or try and get their own wire on Lem. Or a bug in K's car or something.

Does Vic ever screw Corrine again? Is there an ep where they get together for a night like it used to be? That would be a tender but painful ep. Just a thought.

Lastly, who are your top 5 chicks all through the series? Mine are:

Danny
Becca Doyle
Lauren ( sniffer dog chick)
The one Shane bangs in the interro room
The bird who runs the women's shelter that Vic shags.

Finished the whole series. Quite simply, the best show I have ever seen on TV.
