I've been looking forward to this one for awhile now.  Initial word of mouth was good, but seemed to diminish once it was actually released.  I understand exactly what happened.

So, we've got a very simple little classic setup here - 3 girls, all childhood friends, decide to reunite and camp the weekend away on an island off the coast of Maine, where they all grew up.  Little do they realize they're not alone on the island.

So, we've got Kate Bosworth, Lake Bell, and Katie Aselton (who also directed this, as well as coming up with the story, which was then written by her hubby, Mark Duplas), in a survival (revenge maybe?) thriller that sadly turns out to be not very thrilling.

This isn't a bad movie.  It's just not a good movie.  It's not memorable at all, because there really aren't any memorable scenes.  The Antags just aren't bad enough, and as it turns out, pretty damn weak, actually.  The Protags don't bring anything new or fresh to a tired, well trodden story/plot.  To make matters worse, the runtime is less than 80 minutes, so you pretty much know exactly what you're going to get here, and sure enough, that's exactly what you get.

Aselton and Duplas didn't bring much to this dinner table and it's too bad, because the movie looks good, the acting is good, and the soundtrack pretty damn great.  We've all read and seen this script/movie a thousand times.  I honestly kept waiting for something unique to kick in, but it literally never did.

You can easily do worse, but there's not much here to get excited about.
