2014 BlueCat Screenplay Competition
Call for Screenplays

Fall Deadline:  September 1st


In the spirit of our commitment to the development of screenwriters worldwide, the BlueCat Screenplay Competition holds a longstanding tradition of giving written notes to every screenplay submitted. Each Feature screenplay entered receives two analyses, while each Short screenplay receives one.

All Screenplays submitted by September 1st will receive their feedback by October 1st. ($60 features, $40 shorts)  


Best Feature Screenplay $15,000 Grand Prize; Four Finalists $2500

Best Short Screenplay $10,000 Grand Prize; Three Finalists $1500

Best UK Feature Screenplay $1500 Prize

Best International Feature Screenplay $1500

Students will be eligible to submit their short screenplay at a discounted rate of $29  for the duration of the competition.

The feedback that I've received from my two scripts was worth the entry fee.  I recommend people enter this competition if they have a script they're confident in.

Ah man, that sounds pretty cool with the feedback.  Too bad I don't have any scripts I feel confident with.  I know the price jacks up every month, I don't want to rush anything through, but if I feel like I got something worth a damn in the next few months, maybe I'll give it a go.

I'll vouch for Bluecat's very insightful feedback.  I'd love to sit in on a few of Mr. Hoffman's seminars, because the readers he selects; (that I've seen with my own feedback in the competition and others who have been kind enough to share), are spot on.

But you should beware, the readers are not the judge.  They're there explicitly for feedback.  Positive feedback does not mean 'selection'.
