Wow, has it been years since I was on this board. Let me introduce myself.

My name's time and I used to frequent this board a lot maybe 6 years ago. I'm currently a teacher at a middle school in Brooklyn, NY. It's a small school charter school and one of its features is a Student Life Organization. This is basically an after school club program. All the students must participate in one of the clubs and all the teachers must head up one (or doing other things like tutor or hold detention).

Well I proposed and was approved to have a screenwriting club. I always loved reading and writing scripts and I believe it's incredible writing form and avenue to express creativity. I want to explore the form, purpose, theory, and examples. I'm still fleshing out the details as the run of each session will be 3 months, 30 minutes a day, 4 days a week. I'll use a variety of text such as Syd Field's work, Story, Screenwriter's Bible, etc.

I'm also brainstorming movies to use in class showing the translation from page to screen. This is where I can really use some help. My students are 5-7th graders and mostly African American. I welcome suggestions for movies that are age appropriate and when possible. Oh, and if anyone has a link to the script for 1949's "The Set-Up," send it this way.

Thanks guys
