TRAILER HERE

So nothing much on this movie yet.

It's written and directed by Gia Coppola (niece of Sofia, granddaughter of Francis) and is based on short stories written by James Franco; with Franco also starring in the movie too.  Alongside him are Emma Roberts, Jack Kilmer and Keegan Allen.

The movie basically follows the adventures of several teenagers whom like to get in trouble.  Not groundbreaking, but not bad, IMO.  A movie doesn't have to have thick complex plot to do well or be enjoyable.

Roberts (who was actually originally meant to play Cotty in Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers) has lots of screen-time with Franco as their characters kind of collide, as seen in the trailer.

Gia seems like she's found her voice.  It appears she's been inspired by her film family, but most likely her Aunt.  The trailer, to me at least, was quite beautiful and the cinematography looks top notch.  Very stunning trailer, some very nice visuals.

Really looking forward to more news on this as it comes out.

Anyone else looking forward to this?

Trailer looks good. But wow, this is an advert for nepotism in film that just frustrates the hell out of me.

I guess I agree, without her family Gia's work probably would have never ever seen the light of day.

I don't blame her though.  If I had a famous filmmaking family behind me I'd beg them to let me do the same thing, lol.

I'm excited for this, going to see it at TIFF next week. I'm a huge Franco fan, I've read the book and it looks like this movie strays a lot from the source material, in a good way. The trailer gave me a Virgin Suicides-esque feeling and by the sounds already the soundtrack is going to be in my music collection as soon as possible. Can't wait.

The trailer gave me a Virgin Suicides-esque feeling...

First thing I thought of when I watched it. It genuinely looked as if it had been directed by Sofia.

Not that that's a bad thing, by any means. I love Sofia's work.

Gotta' love good old fashioned nepotism, though. I couldn't find any other work by Gia... so we're talking about jumping straight into making a feature, before even making a short?

Wow.

I remember seeing this of Gia's awhile ago: http://vimeo.com/9338991
It's nothing that really shows what she's capable of, but I'm sure she has a few other shorts floating around. I'm sure it's a requirement by the age of 5 in that family.

When a saw the trailer I also instantly got the Virgin Suicides feel, but more contemporary.  And I agree with Toby that if you didn't know anything about the movie then watched the trailer you'd guess it was by Sofia, Gia's deffo been inspired by her Aunt.

But I also agree that it's not a bad thing.  I'm a huge Sofia fan too.

Kev, let us know what you think when you watch it. :)
