Anyone have a suggestion for reasonably priced, pro coverage? I haven't written a screenplay in many years and used to use Script Savvy. Loved them. Their coverage was very reputable and widely accepted. Bummed they aren't around anymore.

Thanks!   ;D

I've used

http://www.thescriptjoint.com/script-coverage.html  $90 for features $21 for first ten--turn around time is like a week though :-/

and

http://screenplayreaders.com/  $79 turn around time only like 72 hours

I use Screenplay Readers. $120 for two readers and it gets even cheaper the more you do. Although I have plenty of people to ask for a read, I feel better when I can give something back to those who read the first drafts. Like swapping reads or paying someone. First drafts can be tough to read.  :)

Thank you girls. Just checked out "Screenplay Readers". Looks awesome!

And Pia, I asked so many people for reads figuring I'd end up with maybe 10 reviews but actually ended up with over 25. Blew most of my load on the first draft just not thinking I'd get that many. I was lucky enough to get Rusty and Kham to read the 2nd draft though. I'll make sure to pace my readers next time. LOL   And I'm totally up for swapping. Have mine posted here, just waiting for a taker.  :)

I was looking for pro coverage to submit to places like InkTip and what not. I think I'll give Screenplay Readers a go. $120 for 2 reviews is a bargain!

Your's is already in my cue. I've just been busy and only read two pages so far. I'll get it done this week.  :)

About Screenplay Readers, They vary quite a bit between their readers. I have got some feedback that was 2 pages and some that were 6 pages. All good, but the depth varies.

Thanks Pia. I just uploaded a cleaner draft 2, so whenever you're ready, just click the link I sent and that will give you the most recent version. Please let me know any time I can return the favor.

I think I'll wait and submit my third draft to Screenplay Readers. :)

Got to say, I'm no fan of Screenplay Readers.com.  I've paid for a few reviews through them.  Shoddy job.  You're better off with an SS or other pro read, IMO...!  :P

Oh thanks Janet. Just when I was sold on Screenplay Readers. :P

So let me ask...when a prod. company or agent asks for pro coverage on a script, what do they consider "pro"? I assume they want something from a site like screenplay readers, right? If I remember correctly, Babz asked for coverage before I sent her something a few years back. So...who is qualified in their eyes?

Remember, the only coverage an agent or any of the like wants to see, is consider or accept coverage, and that rarely comes.

I agree with Janet - paying for "coverage" is a total waste of money.  You have no idea what level the reader is - chances are, he or she is below youir own level and the coverage you get, ain't worth shite.

A consider isn't that rare.

About it being worth the money or not depends, IMO. For me, I'd rather pay someone to read a first draft or do a read swap than ask friends. Every coverage I've received has offered something worthwhile.

Agreed that considers aren't "that rare", but they're not likely, either.

I guess it depends on how you write and what you consider to be a first draft...or really, how much time and thought you put into it period.

IMO, anytime someone can read your script and within that first, quick read" catch things that you weren't aware of, means you didn't put much time or thought into it.  Or maybe, you just don't know how to write/structure your story.

If you think something's not right about your script, chances are very good that they're not, so for me to pay $120 or whatever it is for someone else to confirm my concerns, it's a waste, but then again, I don't do things like most peeps, anyway...and never will.

Marnie, I'll read your first 10 or so and tell you what I think if you'd like, and if you don't want me to, just say so.

That's a very good question.

What makes Screenplay Readers or Script Joint more reputable than say...Bob's Rusty Catheters and Screenplay Coverage?

There are plenty of SS members who could give much more thorough coverage than some of these coverage services.

I'd much rather pay Jeff or Pia to tell me my script sucks than some random "reader".

What would it take to get a Coverage service set up on SS?

Does anyone even require pro coverage before reading a script anymore?  Or is that old school? LOL

I did get a consider from Script Savvy for my last feature in 2008. That's the coverage I sent out. Ended up with a REALLY bad option deal. Learned a hard lesson there. :/

I'm sure lots of pees on here can answer that, but not me.  I don't send scripts out to ProdCos or agents, so I honestly don't know...but...I do see most requiring "consider" or "accept" coverage before they'll even give it a read.

Marnie,

I recommend script-fix.com.  http://www.script-fix.com/services.html

I've used their studio notes before and they did a very thorough job.  Very good deal for $60.

To be fair, you're probably best to go through the Jeff grinder. He's meticulous and his views are always helpful, even if I don't always agree with them.

And he only charges Jaegies.

I used screenplay readers once and was rather impressed. May be i got lucky

Another good one, London based and not as cheap but striving for high quality, is Industrial Scripts. they'll come up on google.

So far on the few occassions i have used such a service i found it worthwhile. Feedback from fellow writers around here is great, but if you are really committing that amount of time and energy, and can afford the second opinion, i believe its worthwhile.

Lots of options here. Thanks all!!  Gonna wait for a couple more reviews on the 2nd draft then I'll probably send the 3rd draft out to someone. I did post it on Blacklist, more out of curiosity...or like a science experiment. :P
