Just finished watching episode 15, the last of the first season. This show had some really really great potential. A serial killer in prison who has a cult following. People willing to kill for “Joe”. People who seek to kill. Get off on killing. What a great concept, I though. Well, the first episode was great, but it quickly went downhill in the following episodes.

What could’ve been a deeper show about the psychology of these wanna be serial killers and followers of Joe, quickly turns into a soap opera between Kevin Bacon’s character, the FBI agent, the serial killer Joe and his wife Claire. That’s really it. They try to add interest by making Joe a fan of E. A. Poe and his kills being inspired by him, but IMHO, Poe wasn’t really a big or important part of this show at all. Seemed to me like the creators were sitting at a conference table brainstorming and someone said, “hey, let’s make Joe really into Poe. That will add depth to this. Oh, and while we’re at it, let’s have a threesome with two guys and one girl. That will really get people to tune into this”. Everything felt false and tacked on to a dull drama, just to keep the audience from falling asleep.

As the season went on, I actually started feeling sorry for Kevin Bacon for having signed up on this show. Boooooring!

Anyone else seen it?

I'm in total agreement with you, Pia. I thought this had great potential, and got off to a good start before going quickly downhill. It was guilty of overusing the same plot twists, having glaring plot holes, and introducing some of the most inept FBI agents I've ever seen.

After 5 or 6 episodes I was all set for giving up on it, but decided (out of some masochistic reason unknown to myself) to stick with it in the hope it would get better. It didn't. Needless to say, I am not watching the second season.
