Just gonna slide this in here as it doesn't really warrant its own thread:

John Milius' first draft of Apocalypse Now, from 1969. Downloadable PDF. Pretty damn neat for those who…uh…well, for those who think that sounds neat, haha.

Cool especially from the perspective of political ideologies -- Milius is a notably "right-wing" filmmaker and has mentioned many times that his politics have hurt his career in Hollywood, and also that he doesn't like the politics of Apocalypse Now as a finished work. It's interesting to see what does and doesn't interest Milius in this draft, as opposed to what emphases exist in Coppola's film (the article linked to touches on some aspects of this).

I think this warrants its own thread. After you've check out the '69 draft as mentioned here: http://cinearchive.org/post/77585943463/heres-a-rarity-john-milius-first-draft-script you can check out the final shooting draft here: http://www.dailyscript.com/scripts/apocalypsenowredux.html
