You can judge this one by your reaction to the trailer, for sure. If you long for the days of early-to-mid-90s B action, when men were men and punches went "BSH!", you'll probably dig this pretty good, preferably accompanied by friends and beers. If you think it looks absolutely terrible…well, it is.

But this is how movies should go sometimes. A bunch of men go to an island and punch each other. Nothing else happens. So good.

The standout here is definitely Van Damme. As hilarious as it is when he introduces himself by kicking a bunch of ass dressed as a Mountie, his role only gets better with each passing second as he ham-hands his way through ludicrous wacky villain dialogue, intently examines caterpillars for no apparent reason, and talks to wild strawberries.

Damn is it bad, but I loved this flick.

I love Van Damme. I have seen every single Van Damme movie there is. All of them.

I grew up in the 90s so watching Van Damme, Segal, Stallone, Arnold, Chuck action movies was a must. They were on TV all the time. I will always love them and have a soft spot for them. That doesn't mean I can't look at them without the emotional attachment of my youth.

That being said.

This movie is horrible, don't even try watching it.

You have been warned.

I've actually read numerous very positive reviews for this and have it in my Netflix que.

Well, whoever gave this a positive review must have been smoking some sweet shit, as this is just terrible in rally every way imaginable.

JCVD looks absolutely terrible...like Claribell the clown, with a goofy red wig, rouge on his cheeks, just dreadful.

The premise is also abysmal.  Just embarrassing, really with the revenge plot and ultimate team up of 2 dumb as fuck characters.

Dialogue is also awful...just laughable really, as is the action.  So obvious that every fight is done with stunt men.  The action is filmed in mostly dark and always at angles where you can't see who's fighting or really what the fuck they're even doing.

And what's with Peter Hyams?  I guess it's fair to say his career has been hit or miss, probably mostly miss, but he';s still a well known director and here...well, again, just terrible and embarrassing.

Honestly, taken serisously, this is in the bottom 10% of movies.

Grade - F
