Watched this last night on DVD.

Robert Redford looks a little funny these days. But apart from that, this film was quite something. There's barely any dialogue. And there's no-one else on screen.

It starts with a voice over. Which they didn't really need. In fact, it probably would have been a better movie without it.

I won't say any more, lest I spoil it for those who have yet to see it.

My only other gripe is I know nothing about sailing. So some of what he was up to occasionally went way over my head. But that's a minor fault, and probably got more to do with me than the film.

If you're interested in film, in how you can make something like this work, and wish to see an old star being put through the mill, then watch this movie. It's quite amazing. Best thing I've seen in quite a while.

I've never seen this movie. Should have rented this instead of Savages when I had the house to myself a couple weeks ago. But being a fan of Robert Redford, and seeing the trailer, this is something I know I would have liked from the get go.

Incidentally, I did read the script when it was posted on SS a few months ago. What amazed me most was, if I remember correctly, the script was like 34 pages long! That's it. And Redford never had a name in the script; he was referred to only as OUR MAN, I believe. Pretty good stuff.

I thought it was okay.

To be honest I kind of expected more. The movie had a bit of hype going for it, so I was eager to see it. In the end I found it to be pretty standard, about what you would expect. I did like the ending and it was a good move to have Redford totally alone.

I think even recent posters would appreciate the fact this movie is very different from most movies. I get the idea you might not enjoy it, especially if you were expecting something else. But this movie is an example of what you can do without dialogue. And for that it should be applauded.

No one is saying that you can't do a movie without dialogue. There have been many movies done with little or none. And many of them have been better than this, in my opinion.

When I say "I expected more", I meant I expected a better movie :)

This was fine, but I thought it could have been better. I found it to be underwhelming given the hype.
