Dena,

I'm not sure what you are talking about.  I'm sure it has nothing to do with you.

Nothing on my iPad. No sign of any truck ad.

Nothing for me either.

Ad's these days are tailored to the user anyway, come to think of it. If you've just been searching for new shoes, every site that runs ad's will show you shoes.

You can also use something called No Scripts, which will stop adware running on all sites. It's a firefox add on.

For a start it's ads - not ad's. There are more than one of them. See me later.

I'm sure there are loads of ways of turning off ads.

But the man who can who runs this site has to pay for it. And the ads help do this.

It's instinctive when using abbreviations.

No there aren't.

How do you think they do that? People have to click them and then buy something. Even worse using google that pays literally pennies. Don probably sees a cheque once a year for twenty quid.

Rather than Google, Don should affiliate with Final Draft and anything else that writers use a lot. If he even got 10% of every sale of FD through this site, that would be around $25 a pop. Not just from members but from guests reading and following the link too. He still wouldn't make any money but it would be better than the joke that is google. And he'd have full control over the ad. Could be a pretty banner below the header. Then there are all the screenwriting comp's (oops)... there has to be a cut to be gained from that somewhere too.

If Don was really interested in recouping expenditure he could do far better than using google. The only people that make real money from Google are professional bloggers, even then it's mere pocketmoney in comparison to the rest.

Not something I'll quibble with.

Perhaps. But that'd be up to him.

I'm sure he doesn't like the way you arrange your furniture. I know I don't. But he wouldn't come round and tell you how to run your house. Neither shall I.

Mate, you clearly have a low understanding of this type of thing. My comments are fair so you really don't need to stick up for Don. I'm sure he'll appreciate it though.

Oh Dusty, the first bit about low understanding is leaning strongly towards insulting. But never mind. At least I know how to use my apostrophes.

I don't need to stick up for Don. Just pointing out something. Enough said.

It's you feeling the need to point it out that has led me to my conclusion that you don't know much about web advertising. It is only leaning towards insulting if you believe you do have a good understanding. Else how could you be expected to know?

I suppose what is insulting is when one doesn't know yet still feels able to 'point things out'.

Oh stop it. I would continue arguing, oh what joy, but I've dishes to walk and a dog to wash.

You're right, Dustin. I'm wrong. Not a clue.

Have ten points. Here, have twenty. Now, move on please, there's nothing to see here.

Although I am aware of your point-scoring system, I can assure you that I wasn't playing.

Yeah, that truck ad is extremely annoying.  And for the record, if the ads are targeted for individual searches, then mine's pretty F'd up.  Never browsed the web for a truck or car in my life.  Now, if it were exercise equipment or the latest computer gadget, that I'd believe...

Thanks guys! I am considering getting a KIA Soul and was just wondering if this was some sort of subliminal ad that only fucked with me...like to get me to buy a dodge...I have a dodge now...Nitro..but the bugger is on last legs with 260k miles. :)

Oh yeah.  Now that you post that it makes perfect sense!!  Of course I'm in the market to buy a truck!  Chicks that read about kettlebells, vegetarianism, gay rights rulings and comparisons of the iPad and MS Surface are a majorly prime candidate for stuff like that*.  :P

Just sayin' - looks like a certain advertiser could use a new algorithm.

* Great - now a spambot's gonna start sending me stuff on liposuction, bacon explosions and lesbian erotica.  Just watch...  (Especially horrific if that's all at once!)  :P

Maybe healthy carpet munchers drive trucks.

I wonder... maybe if I got a truck and got healthy I could also... nah. Can't be that simple.

Well, now that you put it *that* way, it does kinda make sense... :P
But Ray, is there something you're trying to tell us?  Not that there's anything wrong with that!! :P

Yeah... I'm getting that truck.

I see that too. I have AdBlock too. It just doesn't work with most things for some reason but I guess it worked here.
