I'm not sure Sony had much of a choice here, if they'd released it and a cinema had have been bombed... they'd be blamed for not heeding the warnings.

Hopefully the group who did this will be identifed, brought to book, and the film can get a belated release.

Guess we're in the same boat, Anthony. My cop buddy comedy, "Korean Krackdown", was set to light the world on fire. You'd figure with a country that, if the reports are right, consists of a population that would make those in poverty in the U.S. rich, we shouldn't really be all that afraid of them. I'm just not seeing the logic of the major theater chains acting like a bunch of pussies because of something they read on the internet. I'm not old enough to remember a time when the U.S. wasn't full of spineless failures, but I've heard about it and this is such a far cry from the stories I've heard. It's really a damn shame. However, with all this crap about the tentpoles having to also appease China, we should have seen this kind of reaction coming a mile away.

I bet James Franco will make a documentary about this whole situation.... and that will suck like this movie.

There are several things wrong with this situation. One, why are we going this nuts over a Seth Rogen movie? Two, why are foreign countries being allowed to infringe upon our freedom of speech in our own country? Three, where can Rogen and Goldberg go next, now that they've pushed the envelope this far? They've gotta be running out of schtick.

Smart of Sony and the theatres to shut it down. The multi-screen theatres can't afford to lose customers for all the other films on the premises. Would you take kids to see Annie across the hall from The Interview given the threat?

It reminds me of Borat and how Sacha Baron Cohen was banned to enter Kazahstan.

If I were the Kazahstani president I'd do the same. Have you watched Borat? It's very offensive to Kazahstani people and I'm glad he didn't choose Azerbaijan for the movie. Oh, and I remember Peneloppe Kruz saying "Movies like that create awareness..." I was like what? What kind of awareness?

So, haven't watched this one with Franco but if it's anything like Borat I don't like it in advance. I'm a huge fan of the genre though.

I didn't actually realise Kazakhstan was a real place at first... although when I found out I too felt that he had crossed the line. I loved his Dictator movie... that was very clever but he didn't single anyone out... even as Borat he plays a fictional character so kinda gets away with it.

Depicting anyone that is still alive in a harsh light (aside from convicted felons) should be a no-go area for all writers. I know it is for me. When I have things to say I make things up to get the message across. I wouldn't dream of deliberately offending anyone still alive.

This isn't about N. Korea. Sony couldn't care less about what they think, nor should they. This movie couldn't possibly poke any more fun at N. Korea than we poke at our own government on a daily basis.

It's about Sony not wanting any more public leaks of internal documents and communications. Sony stock went down almost 15% during the period of leaks, and since it announced it wasn't airing the film, the leaks stopped and the stock has climbed back up, almost to the pre-leak level.

This is exactly what I was talking about earlier... the Americans are terrified of thinking they lost to N Korea. This has in many American's eyes, turned into something like a war between N Korea and America. The hackers have even been labelled terrorists... by definition, that's political. If it was business, words like terrorists wouldn't be bandied about. This is a cyber attack on US 'soil'. A kidnapping of information and then holding it to ransom with the demand that the film be dropped.

It's obviously not a US, N Korea thing... this is just the vibe I'm getting from the www in general from our American friends. All the patriotic posturing... thumbing of noses... dropping of bombs... AR 15 anyone?

The problem with the movie is that at the End of the Movie Kim-jonng leader is killed. Big no-no to make this ending could result in tense conflict between Korea and west.

What did bother me was this film. It's obviously been made to appeal to patriotic Americans. I'm not one of them. Never have been and I never will be. I saw it. I wasn't good but it wasn't terrible. Stupid juvenile humor, I think I may have laughed once or twice. They run their stupid played out shtick. There have been worse comedies lately. Good comedies are really hard to find.

I watched it Sunday night and yes, it sucked majorly. I'm not a big Seth Rogen fan, but he was okay. It was James Franco that ruined it completely with his over the top acting.
