Old thread but I thought this movie was such a let down. Had a big build up and lots of hype but nothing more than that.

I liked the idea, but the execution was stupid.

I enjoyed it for the most part. Least it wasn't ninety minutes of jump scares. There was a certain sense of impending dread. The third act was a mess though. Not even sure there was a third act.

They just continuously wandered around trying to avoid the thing chasing them. Somehow ended up in a pool and tried to kill it. Then had sex. Or something like that. I got bored and started fast-forwarding.

It needed to evolve into more of a mystery. Where they're trying to piece together where this thing came from, who was the first to have it, what is the source/cause of its power, etc. With the last thirty pages being a mad dash to uncover the secret behind the evil force to stop it. As opposed to just people driving around, running, sitting on a beach, doing absolutely nothing...
