Good Afternoon all;

My name is Greg, and I am 47 and live in New Jersey. I have always loved writing and, finally, last summer, i self-published my first novel digitally on Amazon- Preacher's Blood.

Movies and television, however, have always been my first love. I have always wanted to try my hand at writing a screen play, and decided recently that I wanted my first project in that regard to a screen adaptation of my novel. So, here I am, ready to learn, ready to particapate where I think my opinion will be helpful, and most of all, ready to write.

I have other ideas for screen plays, one of them a horror film and want to take some time and explore those ideas here on the forum. I look forward to meeting and interacting with everyone here.

thank you and have a great day everyone

Greg

Welcome Greg. The main thing you will need starting out is a thick skin. So long as you have that, you'll do well.

Oh, I most certainly have plenty of that. without it, you never get anywhere. Seems like most of what goes on here is dealing with finished or partly finished projects.

Yeah mostly finished.

You have to get involved here to get the most out of the site. It'll be hard for you to get swaps for your script because you're an unknown quantity, nobody knows how well you write. So share your stuff and give advice to others. Your advice will also tell the other members something about you. At the end of the day the main members here stick with each other because they can generally trust the feedback to be sound and not a waste of time. But, if you're forum savvy, you already know that.

Welcome Greg,

As Dustin mentioned, thick skin and reciprocity are key.

Look forward to reading your stuff.

Hey Greg,

Welcome aboard! An awesome place to learn the craft and grow as a writer. You should get plenty of advice around here, the main thing is to know which to take and which to throw out. The choice will always be yours. But don't be afraid to jump right in and start reviewing others works. It's what we do!

Hey man, welcome!  Having only just finished my first screenplay, I can tell you that there's always something more you can learn.  No matter how much you think you've done right, there's always one thing you can fix, or do better.  I spent so much time and energy reading everything I possibly could on screenwriting, and after six months, finally completed it.  I had no idea it would be so different from novel writing.  Once you start, don't give up until you finish, because it's great when you finally have a complete screenplay.  Just make sure you fully go over it, before you do anything with it.  I made that silly mistake, and now I'm literally paying to fix it.

Welcome Greg. :)

I think I noticed a GregT on the forums the other day too. We'll have to differentiate between the two of you by your scripts, or perhaps an avatar.

Look forward to reading something of yours.
