I know I was supposed to love this movie, it being a Fincher flick and all, but I just couldn't get next to it. To me this was a colossal waste of time, a TV-movie with a decent soundtrack.

I had heard that there was going to be this great plot twist but when it came around I was, like, really? That's it? Forget The Sixth Sense, forget The Crying Game, The Usual Suspects, Fight Club or Darth Vader saying "I am your father", this is one of the lamest twists ever (if it even was a twist - I'm still not sure).

You have an unlikable protagonist that only gets a shimmer of pity because being an asshole doesn't mean that you should go to death row for a murder that hasn't even been commited.

You also have a plot that seems to have been made up while writing until the writer ran out of ideas and realized that, fuck, she had painted herself into a corner so the third act would have to be unbelievable, unrealistic, requiring an unfathomable amount of suspension of disbelief.

I only did to get the real Nick back. Now you have to live with lil' pregnant ol' me and you'll just have to get over the fact that I'll be holding a scythe over your head for the rest of your life - and if you leave me, I'll kill you (if not litterally then at least socially). Don't even get me started on what I'll do to the baby - which I made using your frozen semen that I stuck up my snatch and conceived after I faked being killed, raped and whatnot ...blah blah blah

Fuck. Off.

I agree - the movie totally went off the rails in the third act.

Regardless of the third act, it was a damn sight more enjoyable than Benjamin feckin' Button.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Well, most of it. It was getting to that ooh my arse is getting a bit numb, jeez is this gonna finish soon type feeling. Nevertheless, it had a lot going for it and will work out far better on DVD and the like. Pause is a wonderful thing.

I tried reading the book again the other day. The movie is way better.

I could babble on, but I can't find my jumper and it's getting a bit chilly.

I thought the ending was good. But the movie came off poorly structured to me, like most David Fincher movies.

It felt like watching a mini series all at once. Wasn't a fan.

I read the book first and loved it.

Loved the film as well. Think the twist is more predictable when watching rather than reading. But yeah, loved both. Thought Rosamund Pike did a good job as Amy and it was a good, entertaining watch.

I watched this last week and thought it was awful.  It started well enough but after the first hour, when the focused switched to Amy, it quickly became ridiculous.

Once she entered Desi's house it fell apart and the plot holes swallowed the entire film to a point that by the end it was a complete farce.  Detective Rhonda summed it all up with a 30 second question rant in the hospital where she pointed out all the glaring holes, only to be shunned by the FBI agents.

Complete toss and a waste of my time.

Finally saw it.  I actually loved it.

Sure, there are numerous redonkulous things going on, but it's all handled so deftly by Fincher and the cast, that I easily overlooked the plotholes and the like.

As for the twist...or the first twist, I LOVED it, as I went into this completely blind and had no preconceived ideas of what was going to go down.  The 2nd twist, was also rather shocking and well handled.  From there, it did get goofy, but the power had already been delivered and I was along for the ride.

At 2:20 or so, I was concerned I'd be bored, but found myself shocked when I realized 2 hours had already gone by.  Surprisingly really enjoyed this flick.

Grade - A-
