31 scripts, impressive. Good event, Mr. Blonde/Don.

Congratulations and good luck to all that entered! Not me this time. I'll skip the excuses on why I didn't finish one, but I'll certainly be reading and reviewing.

31... A writing epidemic on SS.

I was going to tweak mine, I knew the changes I was going to make to the plot and characters... when suddenly my daughter had an episode. so I couldn't get to it. And now I don't even want to open and reread... I shouldn't have submitted but wanted to play.

Well, it's okay now. My daughter is good. And.. it's an OWC, not my first one. Enough with the excuses for me. Only proves that I had to come up with the topic earlier in the game.

Thanks Don.

I rather liked this approach the last time it was done.

I think this challenge could lead to a wide variety of scripts. It will be interesting to read the different choices.

This OWC theme is amazing, by the way. I didn't dwell too long between the aisles of urban legends, because only after reading a few  an idea latched itself onto me that I had no choice but to write it down. However, as short as my journey was, I found urban legends to be a fascinating rich source for original stories.

The best part is that there is no copyright dog in their yard, and even if there is, it certainly has no teeth. Now, I don't want to come across as a thief or a man who preach plagiarism. I just think that a work that's merely inspired by another shouldn't be shackled to it. And I believe that the fear of those shackles has significantly impeded the screenwriters quest for originality.

Thank you moderator for this contest.

Looking forward to tomorrow to see what everyone has come up with. As I'm free tomorrow after work I hope to get a lot of reads in. I aim to review every script this time around.

Good luck to all and well done!

I won't be reviewing every entry as there are too many. I know some of you are very attentive readers and can do it but I can't. I just know I'll start skimming in a while if I decide to review all 31.
So, like I said in the other thread, I'm planning to review 10-15, but I want to read them very carefully and write more in my review than I usually do. Let's see.

I agree: great idea to post them all at once.  That way, scripts get equal time/exposure.  And readers can decide to go down the line one-by-one, or read scripts with loglines that call to them; whichever method is preferable for one's individual tastes.

Holly molly, I forgot logline plays a crucial part in OWC. Moviepoet system spoiled me.

You can always edit and re-submit again to the site. Writing is all about re-rewriting.

As I said just an aim of mine to review them all. I normally fall short of my aims.

You know what they say: shoot for the stars and if you fall short you land on the clouds..

But as we all know, clouds are only a condensed watery vapour and not actually solid. So I'd fall through them and plummet back to earth, breaking every bone in my body on impact and eventually die...

So shoot for the stars and you could end up dead.

Won't have time Sunday to review, but will begin applying my usual industrial strength atention to all entries beginning Monday.
Will mass dump all when I'm finished, hopefully by the end of the week, might be early the following week.

By nature, it's the general nature of your story's construct that I'll gravitate towards.
Your weinie splellin' 'n glamaticle ithews I could care less about, but I will b!tch about deviating from generally accepted spec screenplay format issues.

That said, what are some of the things you do and do not want out of a review?
What's useful to your rewrites, what's not?

Thank you for helping me provide a more useful review.
Works good for both of us.  ;)

Despite not being in this one, I'll most likely read them all. I won't be able to help myself. If you're something of a friend and if by some chance I don't like your story, then I'm apologising right now. I will really, really try not to be a dick.

Dustin,

Your reviews are one of the few I like reading, especially when left on my work. Mostly they are refreshingly honest in a way that can only help the writer.

So, dick or not, keep it going :)

What time are they due?

I am eager to see what people did.

It's 5 hours ago in the Eastern US. Lazy bastards.

I know....but that makes it 9:00 am.

Plenty of time to have had a cup of tea, walked the dog, walked the wife, had a shower and uploaded the scripts.

Us poor Brits are here in the cold, our toes coming out of the end of our shoes, huddled round the barrel fire in our fingerless gloves down a dirty alley checking the internet on free public wifi just waiting for something to take out minds off our misery.

'Walked the wife' - very funny, as is the above. :)
How about us in Oz? Been waiting hours - it's Monday morning here.  ;D

I'm waiting since morning if it makes you feel better, you, Oz folk and dirty little Brit men.

It's 6:30pm here now, closing to dark and I can't read these thrillers and horrors at this hour as I fear the night.

Whereabouts in OZ are you from?

Me and Dustin could use a holiday. :)

Where are you based, Kham?

Always find it weird how we all live on different days of the week.

I went travelling round the world two years ago and was travelling by sea...I never had a February 13th because as I was moving round I was gaining an hour here and an hour there, and when I crossed one time line I lost a whole 24 hours.

I've never really gotten over it.

C'mon down. It's been pretty hot lately, but bearable and you can jump in the pool.

The best state, of course. Sydney. :) But I'm tired of waiting for these OWC's genius entries, so off to bed now.

I'm in Azerbaijan now. The day starts early here...

And I loose a day of an OWC everytime because of that - I go to bed when it starts. And I go to bed on the last 10 hours or so.

I saw Don here just now. Chances are he's uploading. You might sneak in one read before going to bed.

I have such a wonderful image of you now...with what you said before: "I fear the night".

I can picture you with he rolling hills of Azerbaijan behind you, locked away form the dark.

Obviously nothing like the reality, but real life never is. ;D :)

Lol. Then every hut is locked up at 6, because there's no walking the hills at this late hour.

THe entries are being uploaded! Hopefully Libby is still up too.

Love having them all posted at the same time! Great work Don...as usual. :)

I haven't seen Sean (Mr. Blonde) pop in yet. Where he lives is getting pummeled with a blizzard right now. The Weather Channel's Jim Cantore is camping out in his town which is never a good sign. :/
