"The Seamstress" is a short horror film I wrote with filmmaker Tyler Mann for Horror Block Film Fest 2015. The grand prize winner will take home $10,000.
How can you help? Watch the film online, and if you think the film deserves it, give it a thumbs up on YouTube to cast your vote.

Just wanted to give a quick update. The film currently sits in 5th place with 462 votes. We only have a couple days left until the Top 10 with the most votes go in front of a panel of judges, so if you like the film and want to give your support, please give it a thumbs up on YouTube! Hello again everyone,
Just wanted to take a quick moment to thank all of you so much for your support, encouragement, and votes.
The contest ending up pulling a fast one and changing the rules at the last minute.
Instead of the judges just viewing the Top 10 films based on votes, they decided to view every film submitted in the contest. This really pissed us off because it defeated the purpose of us rushing to get our film finished and spending those countless hours campaigning and networking just to stay in the Top 10 and be seen.
On top of that, the contest allowed films to be submitted that were filmed as far back as half a decade ago. The very first rule of the contest was to go out and film a movie. That didn't mean dig the one out of your ass that didn't place in the contest it was made for. This includes films produced by Legendary Pictures and funded by YouTube Spaces. In the end, we simply couldn't compete with corporate sponsorship, and as a result, we didn't even place.
I'm upset the contest was unfair and poorly ran, but I'm happy we delivered a generally solid, well-received film.
Again, thank you for giving us the chance and being supportive.

Jeepers, that sounds very odd. :-/ You should make an official complaint, Chris. I would. Live and learn with some contests, I suppose.
How's The Doll progressing?

No point in filing an official complaint. Just wanted to make others aware of the company's shadiness in case they promote another contest in the future. Onto bigger and better things!
Oh, and to answer your question: The Doll did not advance any further in the NY Scary Film Awards. I'm not too bummed about it, though, as I was happy just to be an official selection. The director of The Doll and I are currently working on our next collaboration, which I'm really excited about.

I imagine they changed the rules because of how easy it was to cheat. The films with the most votes may not necessarily be the best.
Like you said though, it's a great little film and that's all that counts.

I just don't understand why they didn't let the contest play out with the rules that were already in place. I'm sure many people were buying votes and creating fake accounts, but we weren't one of them, so that wasn't really a concern to us. They could've easily called it a learning experience and changed the contest format the next time (should there be one, and I hope to God there's not).
