So, it randomly popped into my head the other day that Google Maps would be a pretty great tool for writing -- to do research on locations or just to get the general feel of a country/city. I spent a few hours tinkering with it and it's interesting. Turns out there is or was a first century christ academy daycare in the Bronx, for example. The more you know.

I used it really effectively to re-write a short that was set in the UK, producer was planning to film in New York so I used Maps and Streetview to relocate it, I think it adds ti the authenticity.

Creepy! I wouldn't send my kids there! It doesn't have anything in the back!!! Like a Hollywood backlot! Lol!

Yeah, I use it all the time. You can even go back up to 5 years.
