No, this isn't the topic.  It is a clue to the topic.

Apologies for any confusion this may have caused.

I must say Don...

You have great taste in music.   The Police is one of my favorite bands of all time.   And yes, that song is still badass... hell, I might even participate this time now.

Does it have to be Tom Hanks? I think I'd prefer Eddie Izzard.

When I think of messages in bottles I'm reminded of the Famous Five.

All I can think about is how the last minute and a half or so is filled with "Sending out an S.O.S.".

Just as long as there are no crabs, I'm down.
I'm in a different mindset right now, finishing up some leftovers from the last OWC.

Loved those books as a kid. They were the ones called 'The Rockingham Mystery' etc? With Barney and his monkey? Can't be bothered googling lol.  When you look at them now, they were almost adultish type concepts in them with the criminals and stuff. I think my fave was th rinse where they found the old shipwreck on the beach. Enid Blyton was a top writer

The Secret Seven were cool too. I learned all about British life as a kid in the 50 and 60's.

Don, another teaser would be nice...

Perhaps genre? Or anything else you care to throw out?

Horror, porn, anything at least R rated with a multi million dollar budget.   ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yeah, that's about right - Mick Taylor leaves a message in a bottle by the side of the highway and an unsuspecting blonde buxom and beautiful (must have alliteration) tourist picks it up, and voilą - Wolf Creek 3 in 10 pages or less. ;)

How about a date? I'm going on vacation next week. Writing a short would be perfect then. I seem to never be able to work on features on vacations. Not sure why, but a short...  :)

Excellent. This should motivate me to write more than three letters at a time.

Thanks for hosting, Don! When can we expect an announcement?

I'm guessing it's all men cast OWC. No it's all blonde men cast OWC!
Am I right or am I right?

Khamanna, you always come up with a unique interpretation.  :D So, now you've got me on a tangent...

Perhaps blonde men in bottles - ah-ha, bottle-blondes.
Anyway, that's all moot to me, personally I prefer dark-haired men.   ;)

How 'bout a small handful of sailors with one wrench and as she walks de plank thety all discover a horrible truth: their ship is in a bottle of Bacardi And the "sea" is a fifth of rum! And the bottle is in the middle of a desert oasis!

;D

I call my short--- The Predicament.
subtitled Ho Ho Hum and a bottle o rum

St. Maarten would work.

Seriously though, any hint on when this might happen? We're already halfway into May.

St. Maarten/Saint Martin - my favorite island!!  Really?  That's where you're going?  Damn you, Pia.  I'm so jealous.

If you've never been, I can tell you some places you MUST go.

Orient Beach?

I'm not going there until New Years. I'm going to the NC mountains next week. :)

I'm confused.
I've never entered one of these, didn't even know this existed until Libby and Jeff told me about it.  How does this work?  I have to write a short about a message in a bottle or about the band?

Don is being cryptic. For some reason, he's not even telling us when this is to start, but I'm sure he will soon. The OWC is short for One Week Challenge. On a date, yet unknown, Don will tell us the OWC assignment. He will give us a genre and theme and such and then we have one week to write a short that fits that criteria.

Don't start writing anything yet...  :)

Oh c'mon, Dave. You know you'll be writing it in your sleep anyway.

Mind you, you can rest on your laurels too - aren't you a 'Crappy Mug' recipient from your very first OWC? Showoff.  ;)

I might have a stab at this.

I'll get smacked down by everyone else tho, people got too many ideas.

Yes, I did manage to slide through and would be considered a front runner for this one as long as  the theme is going to be write a short using Police lyrics :) Alas, I'm afraid it will not be.

You have inspired me. I might try to squeeze one through.
