Just finished this Netflix documentary. For the most part I thought it was really well done until......

I started researching the case and discovered all the key stuff that was missing was contrary to the view of the documentary.

I enjoy documentaries but it is almost impossible to find one now a days without a left vs. right point of view. Why can't they just fairly present both sides of the issue. I think they should change the genre's name to Advocacy.  

Halfway through and loving it so far, the way they structure each episode is much more in keeping with an episodic drama... and I think that's part of what's making it so compelling.

Not researched the case, and won't until after I've finsihed but I full expect some bias and selective editing of facts/timelines etc.

I'm not sure I have ever seen a documentary that doesn't have some bias, documentary film makers bring their own baggage ;-)

This was pretty good, and often mentioned in combination with "The Jinx", a miniseries on HBO.

The Jinx is way better, though.  The central character (Robert Durst) is far more compelling, and the last minute of the final episode is a total mind-blower.  For real.  Mind. Blown.  Best payoff I've ever seen in one of these things.

Watched the whole thing over a few days. Enjoyed it. It is definitely biased though, had to be to hook the amount of viewers it has gotten. The story of a man wrongly convicted of murder will sell better than a story of the trial of a man convicted of murder. I had a look at the case in more detail and some of the things left out make a difference, others not so much. I'm still on the fence with this one and can definitely see why the verdict was what it was.

The Brendan side of things broke my heart though.

Also, watched the first episode of Jinx. Liked it.

Yeah, Brendan was a tragedy. Same reaction.

Saw the original Dateline on this case over 10 years ago and then watched the new one a couple weeks ago, which lead me to this.

It's surprisingly entertaining and keeps me engrossed.  I've got several more episodes to get through though.

They did do an excellent job in hooking the next episode.
