So - even an old man can learn new tricks. I just finished a draft of my web page for my scripts. Never done one before - it was fun. Here's the link if anyone is interested:

http://dlambertson.wix.com/scripts

ps - still working on it

Had a quick look. Not an expert of this type of thing, but looks good. Was thinking about setting one up myself. What's Wix like?

Also, you said Pail McCartney. Change it, quick!

I'm no expert either, but did used to work in web usability so my thoughts would be...

1) Pick a better alignment for your titles, The Last Statement looks wrong...
2) Keep the images the same size as they are making things look uneven.
3) Loved the fake In the Press section... but Trump, really ;-)
4) I'd take off the counter entirely.
5) I'd remove your email address or at least write it as dlambertson (at) hotmail.com otherwise you might find yourself getting all sort of spam.

Other than that, good job mate, love the typewriter image - what language is it?

Thanks - Pail is now Paul.

Wix was pretty easy to use - just had to google a few how do you type things.

Thanks - good tips

The typewriter was just on one of the free templates that WIX provided along with most of the other images on the site

Dave,

Looks good.  I've added it to the Writer's I Dig section of the main page:

http://www.simplyscripts.com/#writers

My only suggestion is to change the "Title" from just 'scripts' to something more meaningful llike "David Lambertson's Scripts"

The good thing about those Wix-type sites is that they're pretty much paint-by-numbers. One simply has to learn which buttons to push. The bad thing is having Wix in your address bar. Far better would be, http://dlambertson.com.

If you do decide to go all the way with your own domain, then I'd suggest dropping Wix for favour of Wordpress. But then, I could be out of date. I've been tinkering about with websites since using a program called Dreamweaver around 8 years ago, but I'm far from a professional.

Yeah - it only took about a half hour to figure out how things work. In terms of the domain name you can upgrade to premium to get your own - but that kind of defeats the purpose. I am not sure how long I am going to keep the site up. But it was good training.

Purely personal opinion... but I think having your own domain, and your own email address too just makes you look like you are taking your writing seriously, professionally... imho

I think that once I included reviews from Donald Trump, Quentin Scorcese and Kanye West I kind of already screwed the pooch on the serious angle :)
