Me and the Mrs watched this last night.

I may be a bit biased because I am a die hard M. Lewis fan, but I thought the film was pretty damn good. Acting was top notch and they used very innovative ways to describe very complex financial instruments and transactions.

I did hate the first five minutes - far too haphazard for my taste - so I have to give it an A- rather than an A.

Odd that you can "hate" the first 5 minutes of a movie but still hang around for a hundred more. That's adequate enough time for me to pull the plug on a movie,  but certainly would be my loss if things turn around. I suppose.

It was close. Had I not been semi comatose by a large meal, I might have moved my fat ass sooner. Thank God for over eating

I liked this one a lot. Interesting to fuse a warning about unrestricted capitalism (?) with a set of protagonists who live an essential capitalist hero story. A little jumbled overall, I think, to make any of its points as emphatically as intended. But little moments of pathos - the renter in the empty subdivision stands out the most to me - and Carell's tortured performance, in particular, made for some good old-fashioned drama.

I definitely agree that it takes a few minutes to settle into the style. There was a lot of muttering in the theatre when I saw it, until people gradually caught onto the film's rhythms.
