Thanks to Don for getting me up on the forums. A little about myself, I'm a recent law school grad who as of a year ago was going to be a full time attorney. Then one day I came to realize I hated the law. And the only thing I'd ever really been passionate about was movies and screenwriting. So I've spent the better part of a year writing a feature, and more recently some shorts, while bar tending on the side (and slowly slipping further into debt).

If it doesn't work out I guess I can always surrender back to corporate life. Or just drink myself into oblivion.

Anyway, I'll be putting up some shorts eventually but I'll be sure to spend time giving other people feedback on their work before I drop a bunch of scripts on you all.

Thanks,
James

Welcome to the site, mate. Makes a change to not have someone join and demand reviews on their work without ever taking the time to get to know people first.

Welcome, James - I am sure you will find the site quite rewarding. I can appreciate your journey as I was on the opposite end of it. I wanted to write since I was young but instead spent 30 years as an accountant (I hated it) and a government bureaucrat (hated it more). Did not start writing until I retired. My only real regret in life is that I did not give writing a decent shot when I was younger. Glad that you are - the law will always be there should you decide to go back.

I see a feature in your future - a disenchanted lawyer who leaves law to become a bartender only to find... ?????

Anyway - welcome. It is a good site run by good people.

I'm only now realizing that was probably a bad username choice. It's supposed to be a reference to The Big Lebowski. One of my all time favorites (and hands down best drinking movie ever).

Thanks man. If I could do both I would but when I come home from working all day, especially after combing through pages of discovery and other coma-inducing legalese, my brain is mush. I can't sit down and write after that, no matter how hard I try.

I'm sure most people on here can pull off a full career and writing but I really can't. So it was pretty much go all in now or give up on the dream entirely. I just thought if I didn't try I'd always think about what if...
