SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Things you are looking for  /  Short script for one actor

So, I love to write, but I would also like to direct some short films.

I'm in a rather little city, and I don't know any actors and I have never really directed anything, besides tiny clips with my sisters and friends. I've also done some mixtapes for basketball. But that's it.

So I would like to try to make a very "simple" short.

Actor: Me
Locations: My apartment, my cellar, maybe the car
Runtime: anywhere from 3-10 minutes
with little or no dialogue

I want to do this so I could explore filming techniques, angles, lighting, sound capturing and editing.

So if anybody has a short screenplay with an interesting story for one actor, please write me. Of course I would only do it, if I feel fit for the part.

It's just a fun project to explore filmmaking and the writer would be the first person to even see it.

Write it yourself. I did something similar and gained invaluable experience.

Dustin has given you some good device there, but if you want to consider something a little different, but still one actor, one location, one page, you may care to read my script, Alone, just follow the link below to my scripts.

Probably won't work for you but It's been filmed a few times so I'm not precious over it and changes you may need.

Cheers

@Dustin
Thanks for the advice. I actually have written something. It reads more as an outline though, rather than a detailed script. It's about a guy who gets sick and slowly descends into alcoholism, never leaving his flat.
The reason why i decided to ask if someone has got something else, is because I was hoping to find something lighthearted. Maybe even a comedy. You see, I write mostly drama, thriller and horror. I never seem to be able to write something lighthearted. I wish I could write some John Hughes-esque stories though.
I have filmed a couple of scenes of my script already. I'm not sure how convincing an actor I am, but considering it's only to explore filming techniques, I guess it'll do.

@Reef Dreamer
Thank you very much. I don't have a beach anywhere near though. But if I manage to come up with a change, I might give it a shot. The script is cool by the way.

My stuff is mostly dark too... but that doesn't mean you can't write something light. The only reason i don't really do lighter stuff is because it bores the shit out of me. I must have around ten features, some half way written, that I've stopped because I can't take it any more and I've had to write something with some blood or even just profanity.

But then, I do have a couple of shorts, perhaps 4 that could be termed light and even comedy. If I can do it, so can you. It's all about mindset. Get in the right frame of mind and just do it.

Thanks Dustin. I actually tossed the outline I had, and started writing a short shooting-script. I like the story much more now. I still didn't manage to find a good ending. But it's fun anways. Didn't turn into something light though. But I'll try it with another one.

I have one - two guys, one room. It's a horrific comedy or comedic horror. Reads more like a sketch though and is mostly dialog.

I definitely wanna continue to do shorts, when I'm finished with this one. And to go from one actor to the next one with two actors would be nice. I would love to read it. Could you PM it to me? Or do you have the links somewhere?
