SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /   General Chat  /  My screenplay has an actress attached

Hello,

Not sure if this is the right forum but I wanted to get feedback regarding my current situation. I am trying to sell a screenplay or find someone to produce it and I have an established actress attached to it. She is from the 80s horror era so I'm thinking that an indie horror studio would be ideal, something like Dark Sky Films. The script is a psychological thriller/horror film. Anyone have any advice how to get this thing moving forward. The script did have agent representation a few years back as well.

Thanks,
Wt

Hey wt

If the actress is seen as a draw then her attachment can't do any harm.

If the script had representation a few years ago who did they try to show it to? I wouldn't try these places again.

In terms of how to get the script in front of the right production company, have a look at the articles I wrote on here, might help - http://simplyscripts.com/?s=damned%20script

Wouldn't her agent be a first stepping off point?

It really depends on the gravitas of the actress involved.

I do agree with Libby - her agent should be a prime target for assistance

Clearly the actress isn't that much of a draw. Attachments can actually hold a script back. I learned this once when I had a director attached to one of my scripts. He wasn't very good in terms of having quality work produced and ended up losing me a sale.

When gaining attachments, one generally does so because the attachment will have contacts that respect them and their work. If they haven't got that, then what makes you think their name will be a draw to producers neither of you know?

Yeah, she hasn't done much since the 80s but I thought there would be an audience given she was part of well known franchise. Especially at the indie level. I imagine someone could have a vision for this.
