SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /   General Chat  /  The Suicide Theory

As of now, "The Suicide Theory" only has distribution in the U.S. and Canada and has been on Netflix (U.S.) for the past year after a brief theatrical release (limited) along with the VOD treatment on most cable outlets.

Hopefully, this thing comes out of AFM with international distribution and gets the world-wide audience it reserves. Being patient has been BY FAR the hardest part of all of this. I wrote and posted the script on Simply Scripts back in 2008. It didn't start filming until 2012, didn't finish post until 2013 and wasn't screened at film festivals until late 2014 until picking up U.S. distribution in 2015. Crossing my fingers...

Until then, if you're in the U.S. or Canada, you can check it out on Netflix, Amazon and Itunes (76% on Rotten Tomatoes). The rest of the world will have to wait... hopefully for not too much longer.

Michael,

Wishing the best for you on this.  I watched it on Netflix.  Hopefully, I can catch The Corpse Flower at a screening at the theater this time!! ;D

Thanks, dude. And, yeah, working on "Corpse Flower", just wrapped a 2nd draft. I literally finished the first draft less than a month ago, so I'm trying to be patient. But I'm also trying to get it to the right people.

As for "The Suicide Theory", international distribution means a wider audience and quite possibly another theater release (depending on who picks it up). A wider audience also means more $, which would be nice. There's a potentially big market out there in other countries and continents for movies like this. Hopefully, that potential is somewhat met.

Dena,

It's only available on Netflix in the U.S. and Canada, right now. But if you're in the U.S., check it out! It got decent reviews. The Hollywood Reporter said the screenplay was "fiendishly inventive", which was pretty cool.

Dena is in Florida! We just shot two short films together last weekend before the hurricane!  :)

I've seen TST. It was very clever and I did not see, you know what coming. Good Luck getting international distribution and some change in your pocket.  :)

Haven't received international distribution quite yet, though it's looking pretty likely as it is getting top billing on our sales agent's slate at American Film Market (November 2nd). I'd be surprised if it didn't get picked up there, at that event in particular. A LOT of big distributors are going to see it during that week. Crossing my fingers, though...

Happy for you, Michael!

I'm so sorry I can't watch it. Netflix or Hulu or Amazon don't stream here in Azerbaijan. I can try Itunes, but lately having all sorts of trouble with it. Anyway, good luck to you with it. Great acomplishment!

Thanks Khamanna. Hopefully, the film picks up international distribution at American Film Market in a few weeks so you and the rest of the world outside of the U.S. can check it out!

Wow! It started a little slow for me and some of that I blame on the score to be honest. But I watched it over this morning after waking and this story is just brilliant, Michael! It is so much better than the majority of movies I've seen on the big screen over the past year. Seriously brilliant. Great job. I hope you made some dough or hope there's anyway it get some theatrical release for you. Superb.

Has it officially been released on Netflix Canada? I'm still not seeing it in the menu... tried to search for it every which way.

No, only Netflix US. I think you can rent it on Amazon, though.
