This is the second film Dena and I filmed earlier in October. It was the very first winning MP scrip. I'm very happy with it.  :)

When we shot this, we wanted to try to make two in one weekend. Make the most of Dena and I finally meeting up so to speak. We shot the pumpkin one first. It took 17.5hrs. We knew we needed something shorter and easier to shoot for our second one and we chose The Curfew. It was the very first winning script at MoviePoet. It was well liked by most people. Comedy, just like horror, is subjective, so what one person finds funny or scary, the next person might not. It's not really a story, more like just a scene, but it works on its own too. At least IMHO. This one took 10hrs to shoot. It was an exhausting and exciting weekend for us and we hpe to make more films.

Glad to see how this turned out as well. We knew going into this one it was mainly just one scene but we chose it because it would be simple to shoot(we thought) and we wanted to make two films in two days which we pulled off. This one was sort of sentimental because it was the first winner at MP as Pia stated so it got the spot. :) I think it is beautifully acted... I've been wanting to cast David McMahon for some time now.

Good quality work! Compare to most of the shorts I've seen, it's pretty well acted, and I know a lot of that comes down to direction and editing too.

The actors were easy to work with. They listened to what we wanted and adjusted their performances. In other words, they were easy to direct. I've worked with some actors that don't really have enough range to do anything but one way.

I did not notice the Doritos commercial in the bg. It's the same editor so he probably just picked that when we told him there needed to the TV sounds in the bg throughout.

Swamp Tales Films and Pale Yellow Production presents ;-) Awesome.

Shot and reverse shot situation looked very cool. Okay the Story is a a bit light on twist and resolution but why not? The sound effect at the end was amusing and I liked the music. Things look good as far as I see it. A nice quickie.

Dena is dying to make a feature, so this little quickie is more of a practice piece than anything else. It wasn't meant to be a festival contender or anything, although I think it could be accepted into a smaller one.

Love the Swamp Tales intro. Nicely written, some great and very naturally sounding dialogue. These two actors really come together and pull it off nicely. A fun short sketch!

The Swamp Tales logo was made by Electric Dreamer/Brett's better half. I think he did a great job. Now I just need to save up some money to get an audio guy to add sound to it.  ;D

It seems to me that when technology got to the point where regular people could afford to buy great video cameras and editing software became became inexpensive and easy enough for those same regular people to get, many wanna be filmmakers, myself included, set out to make their own films. Nowadays, almost every little short film out there looks slick and almost studio like in quality. Regular people can no longer make little films that look, sound and feel pro unless they have great cameras with multiple lenses, knows how to light like a pro, great sound equipment and great editing skills. So, I gave up on trying to learn all that by myself. It's easier and less stressful to let people that do those things for a living do it. That way, people like me and Dena can concentrate on the actors and try to get the story to come alive.
