I know only the basic about this craft and English is not my first language, but I will tell you one thing the experts would say: "Less is more as far as word's count". We have to show and not tell a story. But you made the effort so keep writing!

Would the Federation really name a ship Desperado?  Is this story set pre-Kirk, present-Kirk, or post-Kirk?

I so miss the days of Next Generation-DS9-Voyager. Really good thought provoking writing.

I'm gonna agree with Miranda. I burnt out after half a dozen pages.

Shame cos it looked like it could be decent too. If you can slim it down I'd like to have another go though.
