SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /   General Chat  /  How to track downloads of your scripts...

Ever wondered how to work out if a review on SS is impacting viewings of your script?

Well you can with Dropbox and http://www.orangedox.com ... you set up an account and it creates tracking links for your scripts, so instead of submitting a Dropbox link so you submit the Orangedox link instead.

You then access your Orangedox account and it shows you views and download stats.

So I know that since I reset my links on 12th March, my script Heartbeat, has been previewed 58 times and downloaded 11 times.

Check it out

Couldn't you just upload it on scriptrevolution and put the link here?

Interesting stuff. You're a fox, Anthony.

I got some questions if you don't mind:

Is it complicated to handle?
Does it work with simple pdf attachments too?
Any problems, spam from their side?
Do you consider using it when querying, pitching?

On another note: I already wanted to talk, rather ask some questions to you about your great input in the writing opportunity section. Are you open to some questions there?

You can, but Orangedox gives more data and nice graphs ;-)

And you can't differentiate where the download is from either...

Of course I just do both!

Thats exactly what I was thinking...

But im pretty sure you have to be logged into Scriptrevolution to download so the URL wouldnt work as an extetnal link?

Or does it?

Or third party links orangebox sounds effective.

Can't deep link to SR because of issues with bots downloading every script on the site.

I like how SR tells me who's downloaded my script now, that's a nice touch. I'll check out that Orangedox thing as well so thanks for the heads up. Is it able to differentiate between bots/trawlers etc. and real downloads?

OrangeDox seems like a good site, even though it works up to 50 links.
