SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board / Questions or Comments / Farside: Teaser Trailer
Posted by: DustinBowcot (Guest), August 3rd, 2017, 1:00am
Farside was never listed here because I wrote it with a director. He's also produced another short I wrote called Disco that was based around one of his ideas and is currently in post. He's also making a horror feature later in the year that we again collaborated on.
Farside is a drama-filled romance that tells the story of a Syrian refugee who arrives in the UK and has a romantic relationship with a local girl. The girl has a brother, however, and he doesn't take too kindly to immigrants. Not an out and out racist, just a confused guy suffering from the pressures of the British economy. The budget was around £18K and the runtime will be approximately 15 minutes.

I found the teaser itself a little bit confusing, but this looks great. Hope it'll end up somewhere I can see it. Awesome stuff.

That looks like a great actor. Is he well known over there?

Amir El-Masry is also in it. He's currently playing a large role in The State (well, he's just had his head cut off last night) which I have been glued to every night this week. The State tells the story of 4 British Muslims that join Islamic State.

Looks like a decent production that. And I must get onto THE STATE.

It's well worth watching. Should be able to catch up on 4. There are only 4 episodes of an hour each (plus ads), but they're addictive and you'll probably want to watch them all at once. We've all heard the stories about what goes on, now we can watch a dramatisation. It really brings it home just how effed-up and full of bullshit these people are.
