SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /   General Chat  /  Screenplay permission for acting lessons

I had a request from an acting instructor to use one of my shorts in her lessons. She was explicit that no filming or production would occur and that is was purely for practical use with students.

It was cool for her to ask and I don't see any harm in giving permission but I thought I'd put it out there for comment/opinion.

Thanks,
John

I have done that as well. I see no problem with it

I had a Turkish student ask for permission to use one of my scripts last year for something similar. I think it's very respectful and decent for them to reach out and make these requests. It also feels good that someone thinks your material is good enough to use for educational purposes. Gives me a nice warm, fuzzy feeling inside.

At some point down the line, they may be looking for a script and remember the nice man who let them practice with one of their scripts...

Thanks for the input. It's very cool that she asked permission. Definitely a good feeling to be liked and used for teaching.
