David Spade makes a surprisingly scary badass.

It must be trhilling to see the words you wrote up on the screen, with name actors to boot!
Congrats Breanne.

Breanne has always been a special talent, even from back in the day.
Someday when somebody makes
Devil in D Minor I'm going to fan-boy all over this place.

I’m seeing similar comments at other sites. I’m really glad to see this response.

It’s very strange, but in a good way. Kind of a mixture of excitement and disbelief. :D

Aw. That’s so sweet. I’m touched. It’s funny you should mention it because I still receive emails from people occasionally, usually just to tell me how much they like the script. I would love to see it produced. Thanks Bert! :)

Congrats on this. Looks excellent. That's some inspired casting with Spade.

Thanks Ryan. Yeah, that was the casting director’s idea. At first I was thrown by it. Then the more I thought about it the more I could see it. I’m so glad he thought of it. I’ve learned CD’s often have some amazing unorthodox ideas.

He wanted to do something different and he liked the script. I think people are going to be surprised at how good he is in this. Off camera, however, he was absolutely hilarious. So quick-witted. He’s a terrific guy by the way. He’s been incredibly supportive.

This trailer is way better and professional-looking than the one that was posted about a year back. I got worried a bit there.
Congrats. Hope you got paid and I hope this leads to further opportunities. Cheers!

That was a teaser put out while still mid post. Personally, I can’t tell the difference in most shots. Lol.

wow
can you tell us more of how this happened? what did you did, other than write the script, and what fell in place for this to be filmed?
that would be great to know
all the best

Thanks Ryan for posting David’s interview from the premiere. There are quite a few more of these videos if anyone is interested.

Thanks Cindy. The good news is it’s being released on VOD simultaneously. If it doesn’t show at a theater in your market you can still see it online or on television. :)

It was a long hard road. The script made the Nicholl quarterfinals in 2011. It drew interest from some managers in LA at the time but everyone wanted to use it for a sample to get assignment work. Everyone kept telling me how good it was but no one wanted to do anything with it. I believed in it so I kept putting it out there on my own.
It eventually got a review at Scriptshadow, which is where the director, Dustin Fairbanks, read it. He got things going from there. At first it was just another low budget indy picture, but more and more people came on board. We eventually got a casting director who got the script to some name actors. The next thing I knew they were signing on. More people joined the team. It just sort of grew over time. It was a marathon.
Thanks everybody!

I will just wait and buy the DVD on October 16 when it comes out.

Watched it this morning -- wish I could have seen it in a theatre! I attempted an impartial review in the review section, so here's my partial review:
What a kick-ass job you did here, Breanne. Captivating monologues, thematic heft without preachiness, and a truly memorable character scene early on with the bird shit. The script delivers on what makes it unique without ever losing sight of the genre beats.
Lemme know when I can get tickets for the next Breanne Mattson feature ;D
