Congratulations! I read a lot of books. Love love books. In fact, I wish my English was better because books are really where my heart is. Just like with scripts too, I LOVE the shorts. Easy to read twenty pages in one sitting, so they are perfect for me. I will check it out.  8)

A hearty congrats from me too, Mark.

You must be thrilled, and deservedly so.

Big reader across the board here too. Can you tell us a bit more about your particular story? I went to one link and was hoping for a 'peek inside'. No such luck.  :D

Really good news!

So much success from SS.

I think Don should start a hall of fame.

Back at the turn of the century (before I even read a screenplay, never mind considered writing one), I used to write short stories. As the world was about to end via the Y2K bug, I slipped into an Edgar Allen Poe Cthulhu Mythos inspired phase and attempted to write a modern day version. Featuring a special forces unit sent into an old mansion after several police officers go missing, Ragnarok was my take on a supernatural extinction event. Well, the beginning of the end anyway.

It stayed on my PC for years. I have occasionally submitted it, but it was always rejected. Then, about a year ago I saw a publisher requesting military horror submissions. I dug Ragnarok out, screamed at how horrible it was (both in how it was written and how dated it had become) gave it a re-write and sent it off. Didn’t hear anything for months, then got asked for some format fixes as I failed to read the submission rules properly. I figured I’d messed up my chances by this mistake, but re-submitted anyway and forgot about it. A week ago they got in touch, said it had been accepted and gave me a contract to sign.

;D

Congratulations. And great story about how it came about

Just goes to show that us writers should keep everything, no matter how good, bad or ugly.

Never know when it will pay off

Thanks for sharing, Mark. It just reinforces my thinking that everything you write comes out well.
I have to make sure I don't loose it to read it someday.
Congrats. And happy writing!

I happen to have Kind Unlimited, so I checked this out. REALLY well written! Worth checking out Mark's story if you have KU or can afford the small donation to buy. The action writing is spot on. The horror is definitely consistent with the horror preferred by most horror lovers here.
