SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  News  /  SS closes out 2018 and looks forward to 2019

Hi Folks,

Just a quick round up of 2018 and a thank you.  This year I made an attempt to quantify what the SimplyScripts community (that is YOU, Dear Reader) is doing for members of the script writing community (Also, YOU, Dear Reader).

There were:

  • 51 scripts optioned,
  • 24 scripts sold,
  • 42 scripts produced,
  • 1 applicant sponsored to The Writer's Lab,
  • 10 donations made to various film projects,

There were about 12,000 scripts on the site at the beginning of the year and I've managed to purge a couple thousand to make sure the writers are still contactable.

The grand redesign plans did not go through, but I continue to slowly plug away.

The discussion board continues to be indebted to Bert, Pia, and Sean without whom the infrastructure would not exist.

The discussion board continues to be indebted to ALL of the mentors on the site too numerous to name.  I pick David Lambertson to represent all the mentors.

Thank you to all the content contributors as represented by Anthony Cawood who have given us the heads up on writing opportunities.

Thank you to reviewers, like LC, whose reviews have helped writer's get noticed, optioned, sold and produced!

Thank you to John Staat and Mark Renshaw who represent "think outside the box" with the introduction to Hyper Epics and comics come from scripts, too.

There are literally too many people to name for their contributions to the community.  Together we help each other writer good stuff.

Good luck with your work and here's to a successful 2019.

- Don

Don, thank you! This site is worth its weight in gold for us writers!

Dena and I are going to write our butts off this year, so hopefully we'll add to your stats by the end of this year.

Don, a big thanks for your always valuable support of writers.  This is, and always will be, the place to meet other great writers, improve your own writing, and make valuable connections.  Any script I've ever optioned was found on this site, and so i can't thank you enough.  Thanks as well to Pia, Bert and Sean for all they do to help Don grease the wheels and make this thing hum!  Happy new year to everyone and let's sell some scripts in 2019!

Thanks Don and all the mods for everything you do. This is the best screenwriting site in the world and it's not even close. The sheer volume of information/insight built up over years from talented writers is amazing. Every time I deep dive through old posts I learn something new.

I love how like half the Hyper Epics comics are from members of this site. SS is killing it!

Thanks for the shout out, Don. I wouldn't have made that Hyper Epics connection without this site and Mark's posting. I've two comics on HE and another four being illustrated, so keep an eye out.

For 2019, I already have a 'soft-option' (from a OWC here on SS) that I hope to tell more about in the next couple weeks - keep your fingers crossed!

Happy New Year to all and may it be a prosperous year for everyone!

Thanks for hosting an amazing site Don. The impact it's had on my writing has been extremely valuable, not to mention the amount of scripts I've had produced that wound not have been found if it wasn't for SS.

Thanks to all the writers who have helped me along the way, and the great friends I've made, you guys now who you are.

I hope everyone hits their writing goals for 2019.

Happy New Year!

Don!!

Love this site! You are our biggest fans! Always supporting us writers in this tough journey! I appreciate all you have done for me over the years! You are definitely part of why I still write today!

This year .... I have some big goals. I'm going to stick to my writing resolution better than my diet, I can promise you that! I wish everyone this year MOST OF ALL ...HEALTH and happiness... and of course success, creativity, all your dreams and wishes, and love and peace, not world peace because we all know that's not gonna happy anytime soon, but the best to everyone of you in 2019!!!

I DID finish my first script at 5:45 am on January 1st!! Little Mule!! So hoping to get another six done this year!! I can.. WE can do it!

Thank you super much to Sean, Pia and Bert! Thanks for helping Don with the site. You guys all do a terrific job!

SS has been invaluable to me for the last thirteen years.  Lots of options and sales.  Most weren't produced but a couple were.   And one on the way for 2019.  It's been a real confidence booster and a great marketing tool for sure.
