DANCE!

a 1 hour drama

Fifteen year old Sage is only months away from making the U.S. Olympic team for gymnastics. But when she injures her neck during a routine performance she's diagnosed with PBA, a neurological disorder that causes her to laugh or cry uncontrollably at random times. And since gymnastics will make it worse, her life is basically over before it started.

Everyone feels such pity for Sage that it makes her skin crawl. She needs a new dream. Something that fulfills her ambition. Something she can be great at. To make matters worse, she needs a job too. And when her mom suggests she try dancing, she latches onto the idea.

Five years pass and Sage is still working the same job. She has no friends. No life. And her PBA either insults or scares away everyone she meets. But she's dedicated all of her time and energy towards dance. And she's good at it. Really good.

So when she's perfect at an important audition but still doesn't get the part, it stings. And when her instructor says she's good, but she'll never be great, it stings worse.

When she's at her lowest moment, about to throw herself off a bridge, she sees a twelve year old transgender girl ready to do the same. They save each other. The bond they form becomes unbreakable. And when they go to a club to celebrate, the night they have changes both of their lives forever.

DANCE! is THIS IS US meets HIT THE FLOOR and builds to an emotional climax that's guaranteed to touch your heart.

Filled with laughter, tears, dance offs, and a looming competition, DANCE! includes the artist Sia as a character, features her music, and is designed as the perfect platform for a dancer like Maddie Ziegler.
