I suck at movie reviews, so this will be short.

I actually loved this movie!

It has macho men doing macho stuff. If you like that sort of thing. I do...  ;D
It's also a heist movie. Which I really really like. (The Hit is moving into pre-prod, btw.  :)  )
Everything goes wrong. All the time!
It has some really nice edge of the seat moments. Also moments of shame. Especially after they kill a bunch of innocent civilians in a small mountain village. They have to walk past the other village members, look them in the eye as they walk by with their hundreds of millions stacked on the mules they paid $200 for. Pretty strong moment in the film actually.
There's also a lot of irony in this film which always enhances a film IMO.
The ending is very nice and the guys all do the right thing.
Then there is the final shot of the film where the team leader looks at a piece of paper in his pocket. They are coordinates. He had written down the location where they ditched the money in the Andes. A perfect set-up for a sequel.

If you like action films, I highly recommend this one.

I didn't see it. However, the poster for the movie was so horrible done, I thought it was some cheap, indie action movie. Then I saw the names and went... oh, oh, this is that Ben Affleck movie.

I enjoyed it for basically the same reasons as you, Pia. If you ask me, the macho men had way too much dialogue -- the scene where Affleck takes Isaac out behind some crates just to reiterate all of his character's internal motivations was a low point -- but they were definitely nice and macho.

Nice simple plot, good elevation of tension, great locations. By no means a classic of the genre but a pretty good flick. Made me want to watch Sorcerer again.

By the way -- "The Old Man and the Sea, but it's mercenaries heisting dirty money." Great concept. Simple concept. Not meta, not ironic, not gimmicky, not part of a larger project. Wouldn't it be nice if we could get more movies this straightforward?

I liked it.  Pacing felt a little rushed in places and I never quite got the feeling they were in over their heads given the location and risks.  It all just felt a little too easy, like I was waiting for a bigger moment that never quite came.  Budget limitations perhaps?  It is a good concept, can't help but think it could have been better served as a series.

All in all an entertaining experience, though perhaps not as memorable as it could have been.

Will have to take a look see

Watched this the other night. Great ensemble cast and moments of suspense. After the Affleck bit (you'll have to watch) it went downhill for me a bit in the final act. All that build up and I was left strangely unsatisfied and it felt a little anticlimactic.

Still enjoyable and worth the watch, despite quibbles.

I really enjoyed it.

There are definitely issues that could so easily have been fixed, like exactly where they were and where they ended up (see IMDB), but then again, with all the shit that has befallen this project, it's actually quite amazing that ti turned out this good.

The movie overall is really worth a watch - It's probably not worth a second watch.
