Am I crazy, or does this actually look like a lot of fun? And Luke Skywalker is Chucky!? Take my money.  ;D

I do think this could be fun. The trailer is pretty conventional, but all trailers are nowadays. To be fair, it does suggest the sort of vibe you would expect from a Child's Play flick.

I'm not the biggest fan of the series per se, but I've always defended it, as many people seem to think it's a joke. It's tongue and cheek, and perhaps a knife-wielding doll might be sort of a pushover (lots of movie fans with experience battling knife-wielding dolls, apparently), but I've always loved Brad Dourif's vocal performance and the sadistic, mean-spirited, politically incorrect vibe along with some genuine suspense, terror, and atmosphere. I also love the way the series (especially the later entries) has always taken risks and reinvented itself, even with all the many imperfections that have come along with it.

This seems like a different, more mainstream take, but why not? I like Aubrey Plaza's style. This seems to be a good fit for her yet simultaneously against type. Perhaps she's just big enough a name to draw in some new fans. I'm disappointed not to see Dourif return, but Mark Hamill seems like one of the few who can fill his shoes (this is weird, right? ...I mean, voice acting aside). The AI angle is a little topical/on the nose, but it's sort of a logical step for the series both narratively and as far as its generally eccentric, "try anything" spirit.

Always down for more Child's Play.
