Sorry, guys, I'm at work right now. For info, check out the 2018 Writers' Tournament board for an indication of what it's like until I get home and can give a more detailed response. Thank you.

Blonde is busy at the moment so here's the link to the last tournament:
Looks like Alex is in. And he's going to write all his scripts in Spanish! ;D

I will throw my hat in the ring again this year.
Maybe I’ll make it to the second round this time.
Posted by: FrankM, May 23rd, 2019, 6:44pm; Reply: 12
One request: could we ask writers to not comment on their own scripts or their opponents’, at least in the early rounds with pair-matches?
Posted by: Warren, May 23rd, 2019, 6:54pm; Reply: 13
I think a good request would be to keep the topics a bit more generic especially as far as politics go. Early rounds had the White House (not so bad) and the final round had some very specific US legislation and locations. I feel in these instances the US writers definitely have an advantage.
Obviously a non-US writer can research all this stuff but it's time which could be spent developing an idea or writing.
But I'm sure you will run it as you see fit :)

I'd like to participate as well. Someone has to explain the rules and the criteria of this thing though.
thanks,

I forgot all about my easily forgettable clown comedy skydiving onto the White House.
Oh please, God Mr. Blonde, not another comedy.

A fair criticism and one that I have accounted for.
Fate will decide, as it did last time. No favoritism will be shown. Could be 5 rounds of comedy or you could have not a lick of comedy for the entire time.
Make me. Lol. But, am I picking up some subtext that you're not planning to participate, Pia? Ha, more alliteration.

I can't commit that sort of time, not to mention the amount of work. I may read a little here and there though. Good luck to those that enter and have fun.

It's back....and this time...it's mad! I can't commit, I promised myself I'd write my first novel this year and I'm exactly halfway through the first draft. Gonna keep focusing on that until it is done.
Best of luck all who enter and I'll check things out when I can.

Your parameters are to write a comedy with at least three characters, one or more of whom have their voices altered by helium, who are discussing the differences between the 1962 Constitution of Pakistan as proposed and the text that was formally adopted. Minimum -3 pages.

I don't have the time either, but I'll at least turn in some real stinkers. ;D

I would like to give this tournament a try. Sounds like it will be challenging, and a good writing exercise. Similar to the OWCs, though I like that the time constraint is even shorter. Times like these I'm happy to be unemployed :) Please put my hat in the ring.

I’d like to give it a go

If I may, since everyone is weighing in with suggestions...
I know not all of us have traditional work weeks; however as one of those that do, I found it difficult to get the story idea on a Friday, and then submit the script by the following Friday. Because all my writing time, which was Sat-Sun, was spent coming up with the story...
If we got the parameters on Monday, then we'd have all week to formulate, and then the weekends to write.
Just my 2 cents...
Otherwise, I will turn in D minus work...

Thank you, Libby. I’ve kept up, even read all the scripts from the last OWC. I just haven’t said much of anything. P.S. Glad to see you are a moderator.

Ooh, boy.
Man, that was a bunch of work. But, sooo worth it. I've got two projects in process... but, no way I can miss this. But, I should. But, I can't. But, I really should.
When's the decision deadline?
Posted by: Mr. Blonde, May 25th, 2019, 3:10pm; Reply: 33
You officially have through Friday. Full details will be announced tomorrow.
Posted by: PKCardinal, May 25th, 2019, 3:23pm; Reply: 34
I said it would be today. I didn't say when today...
Posted by: Gary in Houston, May 26th, 2019, 2:43pm; Reply: 39
Given what we've been going through, I didn't think I should enter. But my wife encouraged me to do it because she knows I haven't written anything in forever. So I'm considering it. We get an update of her condition on Thursday, so maybe we'll be in a better place by decision time on Friday.

Sorry to be awkward - Can you take my name back off the list? - I've reread the rules and realized we only have a weekend to write each script, I have zero time over weekends to write anything.
Thanks

I’ll have a crack at it but I’m away on the weekend of 15/16 June so that may bugger me lol

I fear that there is little chance I'll manage to actually complete the challenge, but let's try.

Didn't you "sign up" for this last year and then not even write anything?
If only the challenge was based on a man in love with football players from San Francisco, you'd win hands down!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Actually I did the first two rounds bro then bailed out when the non genre round popped up as I hate having no criteria to write a nothing script!

Actually, Stevie demolished me in the first round. But I'm a Stones man and go the long hard route unlike that sentimental hipster fest. Bring it on Stevie :-)

I read a feature comedy of Stevie's many years ago that was one of the only scripts to ever succeed in making me laugh out loud. Pretty much the only other one that made me laugh was a pro script called Mean Moms.

OK, damnit...if Stevie is in, I'll throw my hat in as well.
No guarantee that I do every week, but I'll give you a guys a few perfect scripts to drool over.

We got some good news from the doctor today, that the chemo seems to be doing it’s job so we’re very happy. Got a lot of positive energy that I need to release into some writing so I guess I’m in!

Excellent news, Gary. I've read everything I can find on cancer the last 7 months. The knockout-punch breakthroughs are really close, I think. We just have to make it a few years and we have a chance. I'm already beyond what would have been expected even a couple of years ago, and I feel great. You guys can do this!
