SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  The 2019 Writers' Tournament  /  Updates.
Posted by: Mr. Blonde, May 31st, 2019, 2:06pm
This is the thread I will use for updates to the tournament; news, information, things of that nature.

Update 1: Round 1 will officially begin on June 1st at 12:00AM EDT (-5 GMT). At that time will be your last opportunity to sign up for entry. Any sign-up which occurs after that time will not be accepted.

Update 2: Don has created the scorecard and the link will be provided. As stated before, your scorecard will only be valid if you score more than half the scripts per round. Now, if it's too difficult for you to keep track of your scores as you go along, you can feel free to PM me your scores for each script, then I'll be happy to compile them for you and send them back when you're done with the round, so you can use the link to send your final scores. Remember, only scores sent in the link will be accepted.

Update 3: Scores will be kept private after each round. However, the leaderboard will be updated to reflect the scores. When the tournament is over, the scores each script received, as well as your final scores, will be revealed.

Update 4a: Don has informed me that you should submit your scripts using simplyscripts.com/owc. Thank you.

Update 5: Don has provided the link for the scorecard. It can be found here: https://simplyscripts.com/WT-Test.html.

Yes, it has. Seemed like most were in agreement that it was fair without being too easy. Want back in?

So, 72 hours to write 1-5 pages, genre, object, location.
Must read /score minimum half scripts.
No disqualification if miss a week. Penalties are just low scores?
Is that correct, Sean?

Got a lot going on at the mo' but trying to work out if I can partake cause frankly I'd like the diversion.

Also be nice to add to the female contingent. I think Kham said she's in...?
Pia, Andrea, Kirsten?

Yes. Yes (for your vote to count). Yes (1 grade score down per missed week). Respectively.

You still can. Khamanna's on the master list. Pia subtext said she's out. That's the only info I have thus far.

I pencilled you back in after your post made it seem like you liked the 72 hour idea.

To what? Dena joining in late?

Why would we?

Will you let a writer know what his scores are?

and, Dena, yey!

Not until the end, no. But, after each round, I will send the scores to Don to ensure impartiality.

I'm guessing we just put a "1" for each category for our own scripts?

In truth, I was expecting the writers to put all 5s for their own script, but it doesn't really matter, anyway. I'm not counting the scores for the writer's own script.

I've been impressed that so far, no writer has rated his/her own script.  But to Sean's point, my spreadsheet screens out the writer's own vote.
