Love or hate the series, I waited a long time for this to finally be produced. I'd given up hope years ago and didn't even know it was being made until a trailer a few weeks ago.

---SPOILERS---

I felt that it started off kinda slow and almost too much effort into reintroducing characters back into Deadwood. It even felt a little sappy and overdone with all the reunions. Amazing how some of the actors aged in only 14 years!

Many actors were included just for the sake of inclusion (Jeffery Jones) and others were often present but had little of no dialog (Dan) which is too bad.

When the action happened, it was top notch. Excellent gun play in the streets and alleys. Loved the N_gger General and the role he played. He was always one of my favorite characters. Was also happy to see Jane finally man-up in the end.

Overall, very satisfied. It tied up many of the loose ends and put a final stamp to the series.

Thank you, HBO!

For fans of the original, this was quite good.  Lots of fun to see Ian McShane back in the role he was (f***ing) born to play.  The cast is still top notch, the dialogue still profane poetry.

I went back and watched the final episode of season 3 prior to watching the film.  Just for the heck of it, to remind myself who was who -- but it turned out to be super helpful, as the film draws heavily from events in that episode.

Not like it is the greatest episode or anything, but a strong recommend to watch that episode prior to the film just to get back into the vibe.
