SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /   General Chat  /  Charleston Auctions - Email scam

Hey people

Anyone else had an email from these fraudsters? (I assume they are fraudsters)

They named my script Rough Love (They called it a horror though.... I know it was a bad attempt at a Rom-Com but I didn't think it was that bad!)

Basically, if I give them $750 they will broker my script for me and I will receive offers within 72 hours or my money back  :) :) so I'm thinking I should throw all my money at them and see what happens, right?

They then proceed to list names and addresses of "screenwriters" that have sold through them... very odd

Anyway - I'm sure you are all too smart to fall for such things - but thought I'd put the warning out there anyway.

Definitely a scam. If they were so sure to give you your money back in the event of no offers, then they might as well take the risk of offering to broker it for free with a commission.

Besides the logic issue, a quick Google search reveals them to either not exist or be of a company description not matching this one.

Sounds like a scam.

If there’s a phone number, I’ll post it in a few scambaiting forums I follow.

I think he does a side line in transferring huge sums of cash to random email addresses from rich widows wanting to donate all their fortune to charity.

Loving his Facebook page.

And I looked up where he works (the address listed on his Facebook page). I might pop in some time.
